Hydrogen as One of the Energy Transitions with Nett Zero Emissions

In the first part, Prof. Eniya explained how Indonesia can play a role and must be included in Asia and globally for the hydrogen supply chain. Moreover, due to the worsening temperature so that emissions will linearly worsen as well. As it is known that net zero has always been a commitment to reduce emissions collectively. In this case, the meaning of net zero is 50:50 between dirty emissions and those that clean them. The government is also working with EVs, palm oil plantations that make biodiesel and so on, but the following government programs must be supported and accelerated. The priority issues are technology, energy access and finance. Decarbonization efforts can start from the transportation sector, steel industry, cement industry, chemical industry and others. While we have been spoiled by fossil fuel subsidies. Indonesia still needs more policies that favor renewable / hydrogen. While in Europe, in particular, they have exported the following energy. Prof. Eniya also discussed the enormous potential of hydrogen renewable energy in Indonesia and also requires a good ecosystem to be able to build and maintain it. In this part, energy transition planning in Indonesia, roadmap study, knowledge transfer to create domestic market are given. Hydrogen can be mobilized in various sectors, namely power generation, transportation, industrial fuel, chemical industry and residential and buildings. In the process of H2O if given an electrolysis process it will separate hydrogen and O2, otherwise called electrochemistry. While the key technilogy is fuel cell and electrolysis. Prof. Eniya also explained the process of fuel cell and electrolysis process and gave examples of his various researches and examples of hydrogen use in other countries, especially those close to Indonesia.

In the following second part, Dr. Firman explained about non-fossil carbon-based fuels, especially ammonia for power plants in Indonesia, whose title is non carbon fuel for thermal power plants in Indonesia. Dr. Firman explained the energy transition towards net zero emission in 2060, steps for decarbonization, challenges, energy security ecosystems and CO2 chains. He also explained the nature of fuel properties or what content must be owned as a fuel. Especially the importance of ammonia in its use.
