Optimizing Online Teaching Techniques: UNDIRA Hosts E-Learning Workshop

On Thursday, September 5, 2024, Universitas Dian Nusantara held a training workshop on the procedures and guidelines for teaching through the E-Learning system. The workshop took place in person at the GreenVille campus of Universitas Dian Nusantara, West Jakarta. This event was a collaboration between the Information Technology Office and the Student Affairs Office, moderated by Mr. Giri Purnama, S.Pd., M.Kom., with the goal of educating students on using E-Learning for their studies.
With classes set to begin on September 7, 2024, UNDIRA is implementing a flexible online learning system, consisting of 16 online sessions, including two evaluation exams: the Midterm Exam (UTS) in the 8th session and the Final Exam (UAS) in the 16th session. UNDIRA’s online classes will be accessible via a designated website, where students will log in using the username and password provided.
As is widely known, E-Learning is a learning method facilitated and supported by the use of technology and internet connectivity. Online classes via E-Learning will apply to university-specific courses (MKCU), which are general subjects, and selected program-specific courses (MKW) according to set criteria or mandatory courses.
Several attendance requirements will apply to students during online classes. Each week, students must complete the following activities:
- Download the course materials for each session
- Complete assignments posted in the forum
- Take quizzes as required for each session
By completing these activities, students will be marked present for one online session. The following assessment criteria are applied for passing the E-Learning course:
- Minimum student attendance of 64%
- Attendance at the Midterm Exam (UTS), which accounts for 25% of the total grade as a requirement for passing the E-Learning course
- Attendance at the Final Exam (UAS), which accounts for 25% of the total grade as a requirement for passing the E-Learning course
- Completion of all assignments, contributing 40% to the final grade
In addition to these student requirements, lecturers also have specific obligations to ensure a conducive E-Learning environment, including:
- Conducting virtual face-to-face and E-Learning classes as scheduled
- Uploading and restricting access to modules
- Restricting forum access based on module link clicks
- Responding to and grading forum posts with completed assignments
- Restricting quiz access based on forum replies
- Grading essay-type quizzes
- Assigning final projects
Additionally, Universitas Dian Nusantara has integrated Google Workspace to streamline the education program. The following applications are categorized into three sections to support E-Learning activities: Collaboration (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Sites, Google Drive, and Jamboard), Communication (Gmail, G-Meet, and Google Chat), and Management (Google Classroom, Google Calendar, and Google Forms). These tools are expected to enhance the teaching and learning process, ensuring that everything is professionally centralized through Google's services.
