Career Navigation: A Guide to Creating an Impressive CV and PortfolioEmotional Harmony: How Music Affects Human Mood and Well-Being

Curriculum Vitae (CV) and portfolio are two types of documents used by individuals to present themselves in a professional context, especially when seeking employment or educational opportunities. While they are often used together, they have significant differences in terms of content, purpose and format.
A strong CV and portfolio can increase an applicant's chances of being called to the interview stage. The information conveyed in a CV can give recruiters an initial understanding of an applicant's qualifications, while a portfolio provides concrete evidence of their abilities and potential.
A CV or Curriculum Vitae, is a structured summary of a person's life history. It typically includes information such as education, work experience, skills, and academic achievements. CVs are designed to provide a comprehensive overview of a person's background and qualifications in chronological order. Typically, CVs are organized in a standardized format and often do not rely heavily on visual design.
A well-designed CV that neatly highlights the applicant's achievements and skills can make a strong impression on recruiters. Likewise, a portfolio that showcases high-quality and attractive works can make an applicant look more professional and convince the employer of the applicant's competence in the specific area.
On the other hand, a portfolio is a collection of work or concrete examples of work or projects that an individual has completed. It can be a writing sample, graphic design, multimedia project, or other artwork, depending on one's professional field. Portfolios aim to showcase a person's practical and creative abilities, as well as their style and approach to work. Portfolios are often more visual and results-oriented than CVs, and can be tailored to the specific project or job desired.
In the world of job applications one is required to create both documents. This is because these two documents are the main requirements for someone applying for one of the jobs. With these two documents, the company's HRD will more easily carry out the selection process according to the job applicant's background and personal profile.
Here are some tips on how the CV and Portfolio of job applicants can attract the attention of HRD with a positive and professional impression:
- Write down your achievements as much as possible
In CV writing, the inclusion of skills and achievement history is one of the keys to how the HRD will give first consideration in the preliminary selection stage. According to The Balance, a statement about yourself should be as concise and concise as possible so that it does not seem convoluted. If the choice of diction seems complicated, it will indirectly reduce the HRD's impression of the applicant's CV.
- Show proof of profession or job desc that you have done during your time as a student.
Job desc history can provide a clear picture of previous work experience. It helps recruiters or employers understand the skills you have developed and how you use them in a work context. With additional information and evidence of previous job desc, it will also facilitate the process of placing employees by the company so that the employee can carry out his duties according to the job desc he has done.
- Include your Portfolio as additional material
A portfolio of work allows applicants to show their real abilities in a work. This can be in the form of videos, pictures, writing (novels and short stories if needed), or coding a program or website. This is more powerful than simply claiming skills in a CV as it provides concrete evidence of what the applicant can do. For employers to get to know the applicant better, list their work on a YouTube channel, personal website, or social media such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
- Include an 'About Me' section that explains the description to the HRD.
The "About Me" section allows applicants to give a brief overview of who they are personally. This can include interests, values, or personality traits that are not always reflected in other sections of the CV. Overall, this section serves as a hub of information about a person's characteristics and their strengths and weaknesses. The "About Me" section can also be used to build personal connections with recruiters or employers. This could include mentioning non-work interests or activities that the applicant shares with the recruiter, such as hobbies or volunteer activities.
In conclusion, it can be said that creating an attractive CV and portfolio plays a key role in hiring. A well-designed CV provides a clear and systematic summary of an applicant's qualifications, experience and achievements, while a portfolio provides concrete evidence of their practical and creative abilities. Both tools allow applicants to present themselves in the most favorable light, make a strong impression on recruiters, and increase their chances of being called to the interview stage. As such, investing time and attention in designing an attractive and informative CV and portfolio is an important step in a successful job search, opening the door to desirable career opportunities.
