20 September 2025

Jakarta, September 19, 2025 - In the era of Internet of Things (IoT), information development and accessibility have become available to every individual. However, with the abundance of information presented, validation and testing of circulating information is certainly required. From this point, the existence of publications and research can influence the development of information networks circulating in the public domain.

Understanding the important role of publications and research, the Research and Community Service Beurau of Institute of Dian Nusantara University (LRPM UNDIRA) organized a seminar entitled 'Tips & Tricks for Getting Accepted in Reputable International Journals (Scopus)'. Held at the 6th Floor Auditorium of Dian Nusantara University, Tanjung Duren West Jakarta. The seminar was attended by lecturers from the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences (FBIS) and the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics (FTI).

The event featured Dr. Ir. Hendy Tannady, S.T., M.T., M.M., MBA., M.A. as the speaker, who also serves as Head of the Master of Management Study Program at Esa Unggul University and Managing Director of PT Cendekia Edukasi Nusantara (IEEEL Institute).

Through the opening remarks delivered by Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Ir. Margono Sugeng, M.Sc., he explained that quality publications and research constitute the backbone of the academic world. Both not only function in building the reputation and credibility of an academic, but also provide beneficial legacy for the development of science in the future.

He continued by stating that quality publications also play a role in enhancing image through innovation and collaboration.

"Understanding the importance of publications in promoting innovation and academic credibility, LRPM Undira presents this seminar to build a strong research mentality and writing discipline. The goal is to develop a research culture capable of competing at the global level," he stated.

Building on the presentation by Mr. Margono Sugeng, Dr. Ir. Hendy Tannady then explained that the more publications that have been verified in the Scopus system and receive international recognition, the greater the benefits that lecturers will gain, both in the form of international recognition and grants.

In order to increase the success rate of academic work entry into the Scopus system, he emphasized several important factors that can influence the probability of academic writing being accepted into Scopus, such as: writing framework, use of academic language to avoid ambiguity and subjectification in conveying meaning or technical terms, journal selection according to required relevance and reputation, and topic selection that is recommended to connect various aspects of knowledge to shorten the duration and effort required in data collection.

Dr. Ir. Hendy Tannady also emphasized that even after re-examination, before submission it is recommended to conduct additional checking both personally and with research colleagues through peer-to-peer review methods. Even after the submission process, lecturers are also advised to perform rechecking to ensure as quickly as possible whether their submitted journal receives rejection or major revision by the Scopus system.

It is hoped that through the implementation of this seminar, understanding and skills in academic writing will be formed so as to improve the quality and quantity of international publications by lecturers.

In addition to the seminar activities, on the same occasion, an Implementation Agreement (IA) was also signed between Dian Nusantara University, represented by Basuki Toto Rahmanto, S.E., M.M., M.Ak., as Head of the LRPM Bureau, and Esa Unggul University, represented by Dr. Ir. Hendy Tannady, S.T., M.T., M.M., MBA., M.A., as Head of the Master of Management Study Program.
