Public Relations Coordination Meeting within LLDIKTI Region III in 2024

Tuesday, April 23, 2024, LLDikti Region III collaborated with Atma Jaya Indonesian Catholic University (UAJ) to organize the 2024 Public Relations Coordination Meeting with the theme "The Synergy of Higher Education and Government Public Relations in Support of Higher Education Quality Improvement". This Coordination Meeting is specifically designed to review key aspects of the role of public relations in supporting the improvement of the quality of higher education.
Seeing this focus, LLDikti Region III invited Private Universities (PTS) in the LLDikti Region III environment with 125 Private Universities offline and 127 Private Universities online. Public Relations at Private Universities that have not been accredited as Superior are the main concern to be given input and a new perspective on the effectiveness of Public Relations performance in supporting Government policies related to Higher Education accreditation.
"Public Relations is very important, even when I started as rector, one of my focuses was on this public relations problem, the point is that a good product, no matter how good it is, if the public relations is bad, the product will also be bad. So Public Relations has an important role in the field of communication to realize advanced and superior Universities." said UAJ Rector, Prof. Dr. dr Yuda Turana, Sp. S (K) in his speech.
Collaboration and open discussion in this coordination meeting produced innovative ideas and strategies to support the improvement of the quality of higher education in LLDikti Region III. PTS Public Relations actively participated, exchanged ideas, and collaborated synergistically to achieve a common vision. The Head of the General Section of LLDikti Region III, Mr. Noviyanto, S.T., MMSI said that "This Public Relations Coordination Meeting can be a strategic step in equipping PTS public relations to be resilient and responsive in the midst of the complexity of tasks and challenges of the times in socializing government policies, providing effective information services, and becoming proactive mediators in bridging the interests of institutions with the public."
Dinna Handini, S.Sos. M.Ikom, Junior Expert Public Relations Officer at the Directorate General of Diktirisktek, and Dr.rer.nat. Agustina Dwi Retno Nurcahyanti, S.Si., M.Si., M.Sc, Secretary of the Catholic University of Indonesia Atma Jaya, completed the Rakor Kehumasan as competent speakers in the first session by focusing on discussing the role of Higher Education Public Relations in Supporting Government Policies related to Higher Education Accreditation and Public Information Disclosure. Both speakers highlighted the importance of leader support in boosting the performance of public relations in the function of forming, improving, maintaining a positive image and reputation of the government by providing information about policies, programs, and agency activities. In addition, improving communication and close relationships must also be closely followed by a public relations officer to both internal and external parties.
In the second session, a combination of other competent speakers including Doddy Zulkifli Indra Atmaja, S.Ikom, M.Si, Junior Expert Public Relations Officer of the Directorate General of Diktirisktek, and Yohanes Enggar, Editor of Kompascom and Assistant Manager of KG Media Content, discussed Issue Management and Communication Strategies in Crisis. Public Relations of private universities need to be more aware to understand the mission and values of their respective universities and build a communication strategy during a crisis that may be faced in the future. Maintaining relationships with the media will be one of the benefits gained by public relations in order to disseminate information, or become the first door to convey messages well. The world continues to change rapidly, public relations are needed to be adaptive, creative, consistent, and 'lit' in the midst of a crisis.
The moderator, Dr. phil. Lisa Esti from UAJ concluded that PTS Public Relations need to actively participate, exchange ideas, and collaborate synergistically to achieve a common vision.
The momentum built today will be the starting point for closer and more sustainable cooperation between LLDikti Region III and the public relations of private universities. Learning to innovate in crisis communication is inevitable. By developing a transparent crisis communication strategy, we can maintain the College's reputation and minimize the negative impact that may arise from crises that may be faced by the College.
