A Brief Introduction to DIKTISAINTEK Berdampak: From the Academic Community to the People

02 Agustus 2025

Dear UNDIRA colleagues, In this era of industrial and digital transformation, the higher education curriculum in Indonesia continues to adapt to social demands. The success of a university is now measured not only by the number of academic publications it produces, but also by the extent of its real contributions to society.

An adaptive education system must not only focus on student development but also connect acquired knowledge to real-world application for the benefit of society. As UNDIRA students, you are certainly familiar with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education—where universities are not only engaged in research, teaching, and technological advancement, but also in applying knowledge to the community through collaboration among academic institutions.

In line with the spirit of the Tri Dharma, on National Education Day 2025, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) launched its latest initiative, DIKTISAINTEK Berdampak, as a continuation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program.

Unlike Kampus Merdeka, which emphasizes experiential learning, self-study, and independent learning, DIKTISAINTEK Berdampak encourages students to face modernization challenges by empowering communities and applying academic knowledge directly to society.

According to the official website of the Ministry, DIKTISAINTEK Berdampak is essentially designed to expand the spirit of collaborative learning while maintaining relevance to each academic discipline. The goal of this impactful transformation is to widen access to knowledge and economic development across Indonesia—ensuring equality in quality while still upholding the spirit of learning freedom introduced by Kampus Merdeka.

As the name suggests, “Berdampak” (which means impactful), this program positions students not only as learners but also as problem-solvers for the communities around them.

Some real-world examples include community service activities (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat or PkM) such as digitalization training for MSMEs, compost production, and revitalization of mentored villages.

Through these activities, students learn while building sustainable, research-based solutions. This is what fundamentally distinguishes DIKTISAINTEK Berdampak from Kampus Merdeka: not only the integration of theory and practice, but also a structured effort to empower communities.

With a strong commitment to adapting to ongoing curriculum changes and delivering the best education to society, Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA) aims to produce graduates who are not only academically excellent but also adaptive, collaborative, and socially responsible, ready to face the challenges of Industry 5.0 by 2030.

Moreover, as a higher education institution that highly values community engagement, UNDIRA is committed to supporting the success of DIKTISAINTEK Berdampak through various PkM initiatives led by both faculty lecturers and students.

Through the development of DIKTISAINTEK Berdampak, Indonesian universities are now moving collectively toward advancing various relevant sectors. Students are no longer learning solely for themselves, but also contributing to meaningful impacts in society, in alignment with the goals and outcomes of their respective fields of study.
