UNDIRA Quality Assurance Office Prepares Communication Science Study Program for Accreditation through LAMSPAK Instrument Dissemination

Jakarta, May 28, 2025 — Dian Nusantara University, through its Quality Assurance Office (LPM), held a “Dissemination of Accreditation Instruments for Study Programs in the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences” as part of the preparation for the Communication Science Study Program’s accreditation process by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Social, Political, Administrative, and Communication Sciences (LAMSPAK).
The event took place at the Dian Nusantara University Auditorium, Tanjung Duren Campus, featuring guest speaker Dr. Muhamad Sulhan, S.I.P., M.Si., a scholar from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and currently serving as Secretary of the LAMSPAK Executive Board.
In his opening remarks, Ir. Margono Sugeng, M.Sc., Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs and currently the Acting Rector of Dian Nusantara University, emphasized the vital role of accreditation for all study programs as part of the university’s effort to enhance overall quality and standards in higher education.
“Accreditation is not merely an administrative formality but a strategic process to determine the future direction and quality of the institution. The Faculty of Business and Social Sciences must thoroughly prepare to ensure all quality standards are met comprehensively,” stated Ir. Margono Sugeng, M.Sc.
A similar sentiment was expressed by Dr. Caturida Meiwanto Doktoralina, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences (FBIS), who also extended his congratulations and support to the Communication Science Study Program for organizing the LAMSPAK instrument dissemination event.
“The expected improvement in Communication Science accreditation will require the support of all available internal resources. We believe that through this dissemination program, valuable insights will be gained to guide necessary improvements before submitting the accreditation documents to the agency,” stated Dr. Caturida Meiwanto Doktoralina, Ph.D.
During his presentation, Dr. Muhamad Sulhan, S.I.P., M.Si. explained that the accreditation instrument used by LAMSPAK does not differ significantly from the one previously employed by BAN-PT.
“If you look at the LAMSPAK instrument, in essence, it does not diverge much from BAN-PT’s version,” said Dr. Muhamad Sulhan.
He also highlighted the crucial role of study program management in addressing the growing competition for student enrollment in higher education institutions. According to him, the competitiveness of a study program is not solely dependent on academic aspects but is heavily influenced by effective management and governance.
“A study program cannot function well without an effective implementing unit (UPPS), and a good UPPS cannot operate based merely on logic and leadership—it must also be supported by a decentralized management system,” he added.
His remarks underscored the importance of synergy among various components within a university—from the study program level to the overall institutional leadership—in order to foster optimal institutional competitiveness.
