Effective Studying, Plenty of Time for Activities: Smart Time Management Tips for Active Students

21 April 2025

A thousand roads lead to Rome, but they are paved with countless challenges—a reality that students often face during their educational journey. Despite the hurdles, education remains a fundamental need and a right for all.

It’s like carrying two vastly different worlds on their shoulders—this is the challenge experienced by students, especially those in Regular 2 classes, who are already immersed in the working world. These challenges range from managing time, energy, work, social life, and even family responsibilities for those who are married.

Unlike Regular class students, who can attend classes during prime hours (morning time) or productive hours, Regular 2 students—most of whom are full-time workers, part-timers, or busy supporting their family businesses—will inevitably face obstacles while pursuing their studies.

These difficulties are exacerbated by economic instability, compelling Regular 2 students to take on multiple jobs to sustain their livelihood. With such unsupportive conditions, these challenges can become a significant blow to their learning enthusiasm.

So, what can they do to boost their energy and maintain their balance between two worlds? Especially for those engaged in writing theses or project-based final assignments. Here are some tips:

  1. Maximizing Study Systems

    • Regular 2 students can utilize the Pomodoro Technique, which involves 45 minutes of focused study interspersed with 5–15-minute breaks. This method not only makes studying less rigid but also refreshes the brain, making it more focused and energized.

    • Adopt Active Learning Techniques: Discuss materials with friends or study groups to deepen understanding.

  2. Collaborating with Colleagues and Lecturers

    • Open Communication: Inform your employer about your status as a student so they can understand your schedule. Notify your lecturers if work-related issues arise.

    • This approach eliminates miscommunication with lecturers while fostering good relationships, especially during thesis or final project guidance.

    • Build Connections: Actively engage with classmates. Collaborating on group assignments can lighten the workload and strengthen understanding.

  3. Maintaining Life Balance

    • Balancing work, study, and personal life is essential. Harmonizing these two worlds is the biggest challenge for Regular 2 students.

    • However, with good health management, optimal learning motivation will naturally emerge.

    • Get Adequate Rest: Quality sleep helps maintain concentration and health.

    • Take Time for Recreation: Don’t neglect fun activities to relieve stress, such as sports, hobbies, or family gatherings.

  4. Staying Motivated

    • Set Long-Term Goals: Remember that education is an investment for the future.

    • Celebrate Progress: Every small achievement is proof of your determination to become a remarkable individual, building a better future.

    • Remember, the END RESULT is not the sole measure of success; the PROCESS leads to better results while helping you master the field of study thoroughly.

  5. Studying Isn’t Just About Pursuing a Degree, Although seemingly trivial, goals are the foundation of the motivation to move forward. Studying isn’t just about earning a degree but becoming a better individual. Higher education also instills moral values such as humility, tolerance, and organizational skills.

To address the challenges faced by Regular 2 students, Dian Nusantara University (UNDIRA) prioritizes access to education that is not only high-quality, innovative, and creative but also affordable for the community. With its core values—Visionary, Integrity, and Professionalism—UNDIRA is committed to preparing graduates ready to compete by 2030.

In addition, Regular 2 students at UNDIRA benefit from flexible scheduling for both guidance sessions and classes. Graduates of Regular 2 programs will earn a Bachelor’s degree (S1) from their chosen study program. This degree and its accompanying diploma will greatly contribute to advancing their career paths and career opportunities.
