Becoming the First Professor of Universitas Dian Nusantara: Prof. Dr. Ari Purwanti, S.E., M.Ak. Shares Her Vision

The academic title of "Professor," internationally recognized as the pinnacle of academic achievement, signifies not only a lecturer’s academic competence but also their dedication and integrity in education. On January 7, 2025, based on her unwavering commitment to the academic world, LLDikti Region III officially appointed Prof. Dr. Ari Purwanti, SE., M.Ak. as a Professor.
This achievement brings great pride to Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA), as Prof. Dr. Ari Purwanti becomes its first Professor.
A graduate of the Faculty of Economics and Business specializing in Accounting, Prof. Dr. Ari Purwanti has earned recognition for her dedication to academia. She holds multiple professional accounting certifications issued by the Indonesian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (IAPI). Furthermore, she has advanced her career as an assessor for the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) in the field of Risk Management and has served as an Audit Committee member at a state-owned enterprise.
In 2021, Prof. Dr. Ari Purwanti joined Universitas Dian Nusantara as a permanent lecturer in the Accounting Study Program. The university’s core values—Visionary, Integrity, and Professionalism—aligned closely with her principles as a professional accountant, motivating her to contribute her maximum efforts to the institution.
As an Accounting Educator, Prof. Dr. Ari Purwanti is committed to shaping a generation of professionals who are innovative, ethical, and sustainability-oriented, focusing on technological mastery, research, and organizational culture development.
She emphasizes the importance of understanding accounting as a discipline that teaches both financial management efficiency and sustainable economic management. Accounting plays a crucial role in monitoring corporate efficiency and driving community development through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, which include reporting environmental impacts and recording performance. In this way, accounting transcends financial aspects, contributing to environmental and social welfare while reinforcing organizational commitments to sustainable development.
Prof. Dr. Ari Purwanti believes that accounting educators, particularly lecturers, play a vital role in advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of long-term national and global development.
The Accounting Study Program at Universitas Dian Nusantara offers courses in Social and Environmental Accounting as well as Corporate Governance, equipping students with comprehensive knowledge in financial and risk management.
Prof. Dr. Ari Purwanti also hopes that accounting research and education can benefit all stakeholders. Her teaching experience at Universitas Dian Nusantara reinforces her belief that lecturers and accountants bear significant responsibility in shaping a generation of professionals who are conscious of sustainability.
Additionally, she highlights the importance of expanding accounting competencies and insights through research, seminars, publications, and workshops. Research, as one of the core pillars of higher education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi), is not only dedicated to academic advancement but also serves society by providing practical solutions.

Academics must not only impart knowledge and contribute to educational advancement but also act as pioneers in policy implementation, upholding moral and professional responsibilities to ensure the survival and well-being of humanity.
