Enhancing Teaching Quality and Academic Performance: UNDIRA Holds Faculty Coordination Meeting

On August 29, 2024, Dian Nusantara University (UNDIRA) held a Coordination Meeting for its faculty members. The event took place in the university's auditorium on the 6th floor, aimed at improving teaching quality and faculty competence. The meeting also discussed several other topics, such as academic evaluation criteria that could influence accreditation in accordance with Dikti (Directorate General of Higher Education) regulations. As widely recognized, the education sector continuously evolves to keep pace with educational advancements to develop competent graduates in the Era of Industry 4.0.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. H. Suharyadi provided details to the entire faculty of UNDIRA regarding the university's situation in the last three periods, where there was a slight stagnation. Therefore, an evaluation of the teaching materials used by the faculty is necessary, following the guidelines established by Dikti. Accreditation involves several criteria ranging from "good", “excellent” and "outstanding." These ratings can be influenced by various factors from both students and faculty.

Following the presentation, details about the performance of UNDIRA faculty in the 2023-2024 academic year were discussed. It is known that UNDIRA has three campuses in different areas, namely Tanjung Duren, Greenvile, and Cibubur, each with two buildings and different capacities. Anticipating the growth of education in Indonesia, UNDIRA continues to provide opportunities for faculty members to engage in PKM (Community Service Programs) or doctoral activities to produce high-quality teaching materials.

The Greenvile and Tanjung Duren campuses have a total capacity of 6,720, while the Cibubur campus has a capacity of 13,432. Overall, Dian Nusantara University has a student capacity of 20,152. It was also mentioned that UNDIRA is equipped with several supporting facilities, such as a computer lab, radio studio, communication science lab, and physics lab, which enhance the educational activities at UNDIRA. Moreover, implementing interactive and positive teaching techniques can boost student morale.

In the following session, several messages were conveyed by the Chairman of the Dian Astra Foundation, Mr. Sagoro Dharma. During this session, he stated that the integration of AI into teaching could lead to the achievement of an educational system known as the "Contemporary Curriculum." As Mr. Dharma mentioned, many universities abroad have implemented technology integration, such as AI, in campus activities. Therefore, Universitas Dian Nusantara has developed Google Sites and a system for recording feedback and suggestions. With Google Sites, the creation of portfolios by faculty lecturers can be conducted through this platform.

It is hoped that, in the future, Google Sites will facilitate the organization of portfolios by both faculty and students. Through this Portfolio system, students can view the portfolios of faculty members who will serve as their academic advisors and select an advisor according to the required criteria. The use of Google Sites technology in teaching and administration will also assist the university's units in their operations and provide a platform that accommodates feedback from both students and faculty to maintain retention among all parties.

This system allows for the input of faculty competencies, which will benefit students in selecting an advisor based on the desired competency portfolio. The future focus is also on student retention, specifically improving graduation rates and student retention through various programs, which will also be available to students through a survey system.

The competencies of higher education graduates must always be strengthened and their relevance to the needs of the business and industrial world clarified. It is expected that through this Faculty Coordination Meeting, the integrity of UNDIRA's vision and mission—Visionary, Integrity, and Professionalism—will be maintained for all faculty members and students.
