Facing the Uncertainty of 2026 with the Spirit of VIP Academia: The Chairman of the Dian Asra Foundation Delivers Comprehensive Guidance
The beginning of 2026, as widely observed, has not unfolded under particularly favorable circumstances. Global discourse is increasingly dominated by issues surrounding geopolitical conflict and tension, which inevitably affect strategic sectors ranging from food security and logistics to the stability of the global economy.
The massive transformation of the global economy has also significantly influenced the development of public infrastructure, particularly in education. Without education and the advancement of knowledge, societies risk experiencing periods of regression in both human resource competence and general public literacy.
At the same time, the rapid development of artificial intelligence and the growing interconnectivity of information have brought not only greater accessibility but also new challenges, especially during times of crisis. The overwhelming flow of visual and textual information—often shaped by subjective and imaginative narratives—has become a challenge that the public must navigate.
Information that should ideally provide clear context regarding a phenomenon often evolves into narratives that amplify ambiguity. This dynamic affects the balance of power among individuals through echo chambers, ultimately generating public anxiety, particularly among Generation Z.
For this reason, the dissemination of factual information amid the overwhelming flow of content has become increasingly essential. In building a more meaningful future, education remains the key force capable of expanding perspectives while cultivating the wisdom necessary for effective adaptation.
In his address at the Opening Ceremony of the Even Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, Mr. Sagoro Dharmawan, Chairman of the Dian Asra Foundation, emphasized that education represents a transformative force capable of becoming a turning point for humanity amid global uncertainty.
“Initially, the world was often perceived through a stereotypical framework in which control rested in the hands of the strongest and the wealthiest. Today, however, we have entered an era of Asymmetric Strategy or Asymmetric Power, where smaller actors can challenge larger ones. This shift is strongly influenced by levels of understanding and literacy that support our adaptability in improving the balance of power,” he stated.
Reflecting on the current situation, he also recalled a well-known philosophy attributed to Confucius: “Education breeds confidence, confidence brings hope, and hope brings peace.” According to him, the modern world no longer favors sheer strength alone, but rather those who possess curiosity to innovate, the courage to lead and experiment, and the wisdom to adapt to change.
Mr. Sagoro Dharmawan further emphasized that education today functions not only as the intellectual engine sustaining civilization through academic pathways but also as a bridge between knowledge and wisdom—two qualities that cannot be replaced by artificial intelligence and that remain essential for rebuilding a world strained by conflict.
The guidance delivered by Mr. Sagoro Dharmawan, grounded in the values of Vision, Integrity, and Professionalism, reflects the belief that education and knowledge can shape individuals who will contribute meaningfully to the future of the nation.
In this regard, Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA) represents an appropriate choice for those seeking to broaden their intellectual horizons while cultivating strong leadership character. Through a structured educational system, competent faculty members, and a collaborative academic environment, UNDIRA prepares its students to become future ambassadors embodying the values of VIP: Vision, Integrity, and Professionalism.
Like gears that continue to rotate in perpetual motion, education offers a never-ending cycle of innovation for humanity, symbolizing an enduring confidence in the future.
Although the initiatives we pursue today may not always yield immediate results, the knowledge we cultivate becomes a lasting legacy—one that provides future generations with the intellectual foundation needed to continue, refine, and guide the course of civilization in alignment with the values, vision, and aspirations of goodness that have been instilled before them.
