Beyond Mere Daily Usage: Discover the 6 Essential Skills for Mastering AI!
Artificial Intelligence (AI) now plays a massive role in streamlining workflows and academic pursuits for our friends at UNDIRA. With AI, we can formulate and master various subjects such as Programming Languages (Coding) and Syntax, Video Creation, Image Generation and Editing, and even analyzing vast amounts of Big Data.
Consequently, AI's processing capabilities—which are flexible and accessible anytime, anywhere—not only support various professional and study sectors for UNDIRA students but also enhance our innovation efficiency. However, in practical application, using AI requires a grasp of several key concepts, such as:
-
Data Visualization
As wise AI users, there are times when we need to present information as a form of accountability and data validation. Beyond simply giving commands to AI, we must also be able to translate that data into language or visual presentations that are simpler for others to understand.
-
Data Literacy and Analysis
Furthermore, as we know, the majority of information generated by an AI includes not only current information but also data from non-specific timeframes relative to our query. Additionally, since AI datasets come from various inputs, it is only natural that we re-analyze the output provided by the AI—take it with a grain of salt.
-
Critical Thinking
AI can mimic patterns and provide solutions, but it cannot offer innovation that possesses true “Novelty” or uniqueness. Human intelligence and intuition remain the primary driving forces behind AI.
-
Prompt Engineering and Logical Reasoning
Using AI is not limited to executing commands but involves placing those commands within the required context. We also need to understand the goals and expected outputs to craft specific prompts. As we understand, if we enter a command (prompt) that is unsuitable or lacks specificity, the desired output will be ambiguous or, in the worst case, completely incorrect.
-
Proficiency as a Project Collaborator
The existence of AI cannot fully replace humans; rather, it acts as a collaborative partner that not only cuts down time but also enhances ideas through the brainstorming of complex concepts. This is possible because, unlike humans, AI can rapidly flesh out ideas by creating rough outlines or initial concepts. We can see this implementation in tools like LeonardoAI, Canva, Arvin, and Adobe Express.
-
Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Improving Communication Skills
The more communication data AI processes, the sharper its ability to provide feedback to users. Within the AI ecosystem, there is a technology known as Large Language Models (LLM). The more data an LLM acquires through human interaction, the more precise the model becomes in understanding context, nuance, and writing style, enabling it to generate responses that are not only grammatically accurate but also relevant and natural, much like human conversation.
As the phrase “Every Journey is a Process” suggests, mastering AI is fundamentally more than just understanding the technology or enjoying its results. The skill to use AI will not only yield perfect results but also ensure they remain relevant to our individual needs.
Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA) is here to sharpen the scientific knowledge of students and friends of UNDIRA through the Informatics Engineering Study Program. Our learning system is integrated with Google Workspace to facilitate technical understanding of both programming and AI. The Informatics Engineering Study Program emphasizes the ability to design and develop various computational algorithms, as well as playing an active role in the transformation of information technology.
