Get-to-Know: Dr. Erfiana Wahyuningsih, S.T., M.T., Shares Her Academic Story

04 Februari 2025

In the world of education, research and dedication to contributing knowledge are some of the primary goals of academics, aside from their obligation to pursue knowledge. Knowledge must be shared to benefit the advancement of the nation and the country. Additionally, research and scientific contributions can advance one's career through various recognized and patented scientific publications.

One of the benefits of research for academics, especially teaching staff or lecturers, is the opportunity to attain a Doctorate through the Ph.D. program. A Ph.D. is the highest accolade an academic can achieve, signifying mastery of specialized knowledge and the ability to make significant contributions to the field of science.

Dr. Erfiana Wahyuningsih, S.T., M.T., is a permanent lecturer at Dian Nusantara University who has shared her experiences related to research and challenges faced during her Doctoral program. Born in Jombang, East Java on June 26, 1992, Dr. Erfiana began her academic journey at Gunadharma University, earning a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 2015 and continuing her studies for a Master's degree in the same field in 2017.

In 2018, Dr. Erfiana received a scholarship to pursue a Doctoral degree in Technology and Information at Gunadharma University, successfully earning her Ph.D. in 2024. During her studies, she made significant contributions in the field of Electronics, focusing her research on weak currents and semiconductor applications in electronic devices.

Like many researchers, she faced time constraints. Dr. Erfiana stated that research is a highly time-consuming activity. She admitted to having difficulties balancing work and study. Additionally, technical limitations, such as the challenging adjustments for the precise size of SRAM and signal issues, added to her research burden. However, with her parents' prayers and her perseverance as an academic, she managed to complete her research successfully.

After completing various research projects, Dr. Erfiana began her academic career as an assistant lecturer at Gunadharma University in 2015, was appointed as a non-permanent lecturer in 2018, and became a permanent lecturer at Dian Nusantara University in 2019. During her tenure, she also served as the Secretary of the Electrical Engineering Study Program from 2019 to 2022.

She has published several studies related to the development of electronic software and hardware, such as fire alarm systems and Static Random Access Memory (SRAM). The proposed SRAM implementation can enhance energy efficiency in smartphones and enable solar-powered charging.

Dr. Erfiana's revolutionary research, along with other lecturers from the Electrical Engineering Department at Dian Nusantara University, secured a grant from DIKTI, with two research publications recognized nationally and internationally at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) proceedings in January 2024.

Dr. Erfiana's various achievements and research contributions have made her one of the best Electrical Engineering lecturers at Dian Nusantara University. She hopes to continue her education to the post-doctoral level and develop her research outcomes, particularly in the field of SRAM, to support the stability of battery resources in smartphones.
