The Trail of Wisdom and Virtue: Excerpts from the Story of Isra Mikraj

Isra Mikraj, commemorated annually on the 27th of Rajab in the Hijri calendar, holds a special significance for every Muslim. The event of Isra Mikraj is one of the manifestations of Allah SWT's greatness through the love bestowed upon Prophet Muhammad SAW and all Muslims.
Various stories recount the history of Isra Mikraj, describing it as the journey of Prophet Muhammad SAW from Masjid al-Haram in Makkah to Al-Aqsa Mosque in Palestine, and then ascending to the Seventh Heaven or Sidrat al-Muntaha. This journey was undertaken by Prophet Muhammad SAW according to the command given by Allah SWT.
According to one of the records of Sirah Nabawiyah by an Islamic scholar from India, Abdul Hasan Ali al-Hasani an-Nadwi, the main purpose of Isra Mikraj was to establish the command for the five daily prayers. Initially, it is narrated that Prophet Muhammad SAW was instructed to perform 50 prayers in a day.
During the journey of Isra Mikraj, Prophet Muhammad SAW was given various choices between good and evil that would determine the future of Muslims. Upon arriving at Al-Aqsa Mosque, Prophet Muhammad SAW, accompanied by Angel Jibril, ascended to Sidrat al-Muntaha to meet with Allah SWT.
According to various historical records of the Muslim community, during the journey to Sidrat al-Muntaha, Prophet Muhammad SAW and Angel Jibril visited the seven heavens and met; Prophet Adam AS, Prophet Yahya AS, and Prophet Ishaq AS, Prophet Yusuf AS, Prophet Idris AS, Prophet Harun AS, Prophet Musa AS, and Prophet Ibrahim AS. After these visits, Prophet Muhammad SAW and Angel Jibril visited Bait al-Ma'mur, a place where the angels worship.
With the advice and empathy of Prophet Musa AS who said; "How do you expect your followers to perform 50 prayers every day? Before you, I had the experience and tried with the Israelites to the best of my ability, but they could not do it. Believe me, go back to Allah SWT and ask for consideration."
Following this advice, Prophet Muhammad SAW asked Allah SWT to ease the command for prayer. This request was not only for himself but for all Muslims, so eventually, by Allah's grace, the number of prayers was reduced to five times a day.
Isra Mikraj teaches the importance of faith in Allah SWT and piety in daily life. The message conveyed by the commemoration of Isra Mikraj can serve as a spiritual guide for the youth who often focus too much on worldly priorities.
Like a flowing river, when a person has fulfilled their obligations and studied hard, trust in Allah SWT. Through Allah's grace, prayer, and firm faith, a person will be granted miracles and assistance by Allah SWT.
