UNDIRA's Efforts in Increasing SINTA Score

SINTA is an online portal managed by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) that indexes all scientific publications in accredited and reputable journals. Therefore, SINTA serves as a tool to search for scientific journal references and provides a platform for the government or institutions to measure performance related to academic publications both at the individual lecturer level and at the institutional level.
The ongoing updating of the SINTA database plays an important role in the publication of scientific works by lecturers. To elaborate on this, the Research Institute for Community Service (LRPM) of Dian Nusantara University has organized a "SINTA Account Data Updating Workshop". At the 6th floor auditorium of Dian Nusantara University on February 16, 2024.
In addition, having an account in SINTA makes it easier for researchers and lecturers to manage various publications of their scientific work. Faculty members can also verify or inquire whether their scientific publications have been included in the SINTA database.
Within each personal SINTA account, faculty members have the opportunity to upload all their scientific journals that have been published either in internationally accredited journals or through platforms managed by foreign parties.
Accounts created on SINTA can be linked with Google Scholar to Scopus allowing for seamless integration of any journals published locally or globally by researchers or lecturers into their individual repositories within the site; thus serving as a natural means of collecting data pertaining to one's own faculty.
In relation to this, permanent and homebase lecturers at UNDIRA are required to update the data in their respective SINTA accounts. The main purpose of this requirement is to ensure all scientific publications from lecturers, whether recognized by the Ministry of Education Research and Culture or published in international journals - are accurately indexed.
Therefore, UNDIRA LRPM has taken a proactive step by organizing the "SINTA Account Data Update Workshop". The main objective of this workshop is to provide a more in-depth understanding of SINTA account data updates among UNDIRA professors, thus enabling them to maximize their contribution to scientific research and knowledge development in Indonesia.
The event was attended by various UNDIRA permanent and homebase lecturers as well as several other participants. Present as leading resource persons in their fields; Caturida Meiwanto Doktoralina, Ph.D., M.Ak (Dean of FBIS, Dian Nusantara University), and Ari Apriani SE, MM (Head of UNDIRA LRPM Bureau).
On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor I for Academic Affairs, Mr. Margono Sugeng M.Sc. said that the Directorate of Research, Technology and Community Service has established a high-performance University cluster system that depends on research and community service activities in various sectors consisting of autonomous areas, main centers, and partial domains.
Mr. Margono Sugeng elaborated further by explaining how these clusters serve as an effective tool in determining performance-based outcomes that prove beneficial to higher education institutions. This strategic approach is designed to accelerate progress through collaborative efforts that bring together universities across clusters to improve research qualifications and make better contributions to society.
Caturida Meiwanto Doktoralina, Ph.D., M.Ak as the speaker conveyed an important issue: several Google Scholar accounts belonging to UNDIRA lecturers require significant updates. This need arises due to discrepancies in the representation of scientific research data, inappropriate synchronization, incorrect indexing, and improper data normalization.
Doktoralina underscored the critical need for immediate corrective action - particularly through data updates on SINTA accounts related to UNDIRA academic staff profiles.
Furthermore, Ari Apriani SE, MM as the Head of UNDIRA LRPM Bureau, who was also a speaker at the event emphasized the importance of updating account information in SINTA. This aims to facilitate the clustering of universities, open up opportunities for research and community service cooperation, verify data on DIKTI grant proposals, lecturer workload (BKD), functional positions and provide accreditation data. In addition, this system is also important for measuring the productivity of lecturers and researchers.
On this occasion, she provided technical guidance on SINTA data synchronization to ensure integration with Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and GARUDA platforms.
In addition to providing guidance, Ari Apriani SE, MM also provides technical support needed in inputting publication results that have not been recorded in the SINTA database such as Books and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).
This workshop aims to increase the understanding of UNDIRA lecturers about the importance of managing SINTA data properly. Thus, we expect an increase in quality and academic performance among lecturers at UNDIRA, which in turn will contribute to increasing UNDIRA's national and international visibility and reputation.
