Screening of the AI-Generated Film “Diponegoro Hero” by USKY: UNDIRA Management Students Gain Insights into AI Film Production

Monday, January 12, 2026 – The entertainment industry is a perennial sector that offers both an escape from routine and a space for expression. Within this realm, film stands as the centerpiece; its blend of audio-visual elements and relatable characters is capable of leaving a profound impression that extends far beyond mere entertainment.

Amidst the progressive evolution of the film industry, technology now walks hand-in-hand with it, providing support in areas such as editing accessibility, sound mixing, and more. VEO 3, Google Video, Sora, Runway, and Higgsfield are examples of software currently garnering the attention of various AI users, particularly within Film Production.

Referring to the prospects of AI in enhancing and offering alternatives to the film industry, on Saturday, 11 January 2026 Management Study Program of Dian Nusantara University (UNDIRA) invited USKY, a technology and digital entertainment company focused on utilizing AI ecosystems in content creation, specifically filmmaking.

Mr. Rahmat, S.Pdl., M.M., Secretary of the Management Study Program at UNDIRA, stated that screenings and workshops regarding the application of AI in the creative industry are currently highly necessary. A similar sentiment was shared by the Head of the Student Affairs Bureau, Mr. Anton Kurniawan, S.Pd., M.M., who expressed hope that this workshop would provide significant benefits to the 200 UNDIRA students participating in the event.

As we all understand, the film industry has now undergone disruption through the presence of AI. AI is no longer just a tool offering entertainment, but an asset or investment that must be mastered to support activities—especially for you, the students,” he stated.

Echoing the sentiments expressed by Mr. Rahmat, the speaker and CMO of USKY, Mr. Roby Busri, noted that while the film industry has been impacted by AI disruption, this is not an obstacle but rather an opportunity for us all.

AI is no longer merely a trend; it provides new insights into the world of creativity and innovation. This forms the foundation of USKY as an AI-based OTT Film Streaming platform, which already boasts over 300,000 creators worldwide and a lineup of approximately 200,000 films,” Mr. Busri remarked.

The highlight of the AI Film Day event was marked by the screening of the AI-generated film titled “Diponegoro Hero: 200 Years of the Java War,” which chronicles the beginning of the Java War led by Prince Diponegoro. Students from the Management Program were enthusiastic about the character portrayal, plot construction, and immersive environmental settings, despite it being AI-Generated Content.

Following the screening, questions regarding the difficulties, opportunities, and moral implications of using AI in the creative world were raised by several student representatives during the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and Workshop Segment led by Mr. Sukmana, Creator Lead at USKY.

Mr. Sukmana conveyed that although AI can simplify processes and serve as the fastest solution, it cannot fully replace humans. He stated that during the creation of a film using AI, there are several aspects that must be observed.

AI's capability is limited to translating what we desire. In the film industry, besides entering prompts, we must also be adept at exploring and reading the appropriate emotions, actions, and settings for a moment. Theoretically, this all seems easy, but for a film like Diponegoro Hero, we went through several revisions to ensure expressions and character portrayals were not stiff and appeared as natural as possible for the audience,” he explained.

Following the FGD and workshop segments, USKY opened the opportunity for students to participate in compiling their own short films directly as a form of live demo. Several representatives from the UNDIRA Management Study Program immediately participated, pouring out their ideas using Google Workspace for image asset storage and Google AI Studio as the video prompting platform.

The students' enthusiasm in concocting short works directly via Google AI Studio serves as tangible proof that the presence of AI is not a threat that will extinguish creativity, but rather an extraordinary platform opening limitless opportunities for various industries. Ultimately, the future of the creative industry is not about man versus machine, but about the harmony between human sensibility and technological sophistication to birth phenomenal and beneficial works.
