Facing Global Challenges, Universitas Dian Nusantara Holds WEBINAR: Analyzing National Resilience and Sustainability Strategies Through SDGs

Jakarta, October 25, 2025 – Global dynamics marked by trade wars, geopolitical tensions, and supply chain disruptions have created a significant domino effect on the social and economic order of various nations. In facing these challenges, the concepts of national resilience and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have become two crucial, inseparable agendas.

Addressing the topic of national resilience amidst current world conditions, Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA) through its University-Specific Courses Center (MKCU) and MBKM held National Webinar #49 titled "National Resilience and Sustainability in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)". This webinar featured two speakers, each providing a unique perspective on strategies and explanations regarding the SDGs.

The event, moderated by Luthfi Alhazami, S.E., M.M., as the Head of the MKCU and MBKM Center at UNDIRA, outlined the importance of national adaptation to global changes. "We can no longer view economic, social, and defense issues separately. What happens in one part of the world, such as conflict or trade wars, is proven to sooner or later impact the social and economic stability in our country. This webinar aims to analyze how Indonesia can strengthen its resilience while simultaneously pursuing SDG targets," said Luthfi when opening the discussion.

Before proceeding to the speakers' presentations, Luthfi explained that the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) are a 2030 global agenda adopted by UN member states. The SDGs are a new development agreement that encourages change towards sustainable development based on human rights and equality. This agenda has 17 main goals based on five fundamental pillars: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnership.

Colonel Adm. Darwis Akmal, a Junior Expert Researcher in Demography at LEMHANAS RI, dissected the close relationship between the SDGs and National Resilience. According to him, National Resilience is a strategy that involves planning to face and overcome all Threats, Disturbances, Obstacles, and Challenges capable of disrupting a nation's social order, whether originating from outside or within.

He emphasized that achieving the 17 SDG targets contributes directly to strengthening the Panca Gatra (Five Aspects of national life). "The overall achievement of the 17 SDGs is the main foundation capable of safeguarding our national resilience. Therefore, especially in this modern era, we need to strengthen each other and remember the importance of resilience for our shared future," he asserted.

Meanwhile, the second speaker, Kornelia Johana Dacosta, M.I.Kom., who also serves as the Head of the Public Relations (Humas) Bureau at UNDIRA, highlighted a different aspect: the strategic role of communication.

"This large and complex SDG agenda is impossible to achieve without effective communication. The SDGs are not just the government's business; they are everyone's business. In order to build SDG stability, as we know, it starts from the smallest things, such as developing educational facilities and social equalization to create harmony. With this foundation established, it is hoped that we can move slowly in building Indonesia," she said.

Furthermore, Ms. Kornelia Johana explained that communication plays a vital role in four main aspects: building public awareness, encouraging community participation, policy advocacy, and most importantly, driving behavior change.

The two-hour webinar was attended enthusiastically by approximately 500 UNDIRA students. The discussion session was interactive, with students actively asking critical questions about national resilience issues and the practical implementation of SDGs in Indonesia. The event concluded that to achieve a resilient and sustainable Indonesia by 2030, a synergy is needed between a comprehensive understanding of national defense and effective public communication strategies to involve all elements of the nation.
