Character Development and Students' Future: Welcome to Hello Campus Day Two - The Nation's Future Leaders
Jakarta, August 27, 2025 - Dian Nusantara University (UNDIRA) Hello Campus event entered its second day with a major theme on the transformation of new students in facing higher education challenges in the Society 5.0 era. This orientation program presented expositions from various speakers discussing educational paradigm shifts and the importance of digital ethics for Indonesia's young generation.
Head of General Affairs of LLDikti Region III, Tri Munanto, SE., M.Ak., opened the session with an interesting analogy about the world of higher education. According to him, college life can be compared to a metamorphosis process that transforms students from "caterpillars into butterflies."
"As new students, you must understand the fundamentals of higher education and comprehend the differences between basic education and higher education. College is a metamorphosis phase that will shape all of you," Tri Munanto emphasized.
In accordance with Law No. 12 of 2012 on Higher Education, education in the Internet of Things (IoT) era does not only focus on knowledge learning but also on character and moral development of students.
Tri Munanto also explained the significant differences between the Merdeka Campus education system and the latest DIKTISAINTEK Berdampak program. This program is an evolution that emphasizes education as a problem solver with sustainable solutions.
"The DIKTISAINTEK Berdampak program demands students not only to acquire knowledge and solve problems through field participation, but also to develop innovative works according to community needs that provide sustainable impact," he explained.
UNDIRA's Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Ir. Margono Sugeng, M.Sc., presented material on "Ethics of Information and Communication Technology Use in Higher Education Environment." He emphasized the importance of digital ethics in the current IoT 5.0 technology era.
"UNDIRA is not only a place to seek knowledge, but also a place to forge character. What matters most in this era is digital ethics," said Margono. Technology use must be accompanied by original expression to avoid plagiarism and uphold authentic and innovative learning.
"ICT is the pen of today's era. Use technology to write truthful and beneficial information," Margono emphasized. He added that technology will become a test if used without proper conduct, and maintaining digital footprints means protecting the university's and alma mater's reputation.
Starting from the ICT world as the foundation of today's generation values in socializing and learning, character education must also essentially contain the foundation of nationalism. As architects of Indonesia's future, the academic community has an important role not only in building but also in preserving the nation's achievements.
"Misinformation and content abuse in the Internet of Things era can easily divide the Republic of Indonesia. Separatism, radicalism, terrorism, social media provocation, and resource abuse are real threats born from division and public apathy," revealed Andy Arisandi.
In order to improve the nation and country, there must be social harmony, wise law enforcement, healthy political participation through not only physical but also non-physical means as currently done by students through academic channels, and the habit of mutual assistance - which can foster a sense of solidarity together with the current void.
Mr. Andy Arisandi added that all of this is as outlined in Pancasila as the state's basic ideology along with the 1945 Constitution, which leads us all to a future of Unity in Diversity - different but still one - to achieve bright prosperity together.
With complete wisdom provision, the program proceeded to the introduction segment of MKCU and MBKM courses by Mr. Luthfi Alhazami, S.E., M.M., as Head of MKCU and MBKM Center at UNDIRA. He emphasized that besides specialization courses that focus on specific knowledge mapping, the presence of general courses and accessibility to impactful internships provided by UNDIRA complement the mandatory knowledge that new students must master both theoretically and practically.
From Indonesian Language that complements proper research writing procedures to religious education that will shape morals, MKCU and MBKM play a role in preparing students to be not only proficient in their fields but also flexible in mastering knowledge outside their specializations.
Mrs. Putri Ayeinda Dinanti, S.S., M.Hum., as Head of Career Development and Alumni Bureau (BPKM UNDIRA), then presented several matters regarding BPKM's vision, mission, and work programs in supporting new students' lives during their studies and after graduation.
For UNDIRA students, BPKM organizes monthly career preparation training programs covering various aspects of work readiness. This program is complemented by career consultation sessions featuring experienced industry practitioners. Not only that, BPKM also has a career portal and Google Site that function to support empowering students and alumni to navigate their professional paths.
BPKM has also successfully formed its first Alumni Association. The Alumni Association (IKA UNDIRA) carries the mission to become a bridge between active students and UNDIRA alumni. Gilbert Leonardo Devince, as chairman of IKA UNDIRA Alumni, stated the strategic role of alumni in supporting the career development of their juniors. IKA UNDIRA functions as a "home" for alumni to share experiences from the working world.
This day of Hello Campus UNDIRA demonstrates the university's commitment to creating an educational ecosystem that will produce intelligent yet characterful nation builders. Let's shine with Dian Nusantara University!
