Jakarta, August 23, 2025 - The atmosphere of Indonesia's 80th Independence Day is still felt by the Indonesian people, so the spirit of realizing "United and Sovereign, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia" remains in the soul. This has inspired Dian Nusantara University (UNDIRA) together with TNI and Polri units to carry out activities for Renovating Uninhabitable Houses (RTLH) as part of TNI Regional Command Unit Social Work activities in the Koramil 03/GP area and Social Service on August 22, 2025.
The activity took place at Jl. Semangka III, T No.14 RT.002/RW.07, Jatipulo Village, Palmerah District, West Jakarta. The team consisted of West Jakarta Military District Commander Colonel Kav Sigit Dharma Wiryawan, S.H., Grogol Petamburan Military Sector Commander Major Inf Manatap Rajagukguk, S.E., M.H., M.M., Palmerah Police Chief Kompol Gomos Simamora, Palmerah District Head represented by Palmerah District Secretary Muchamad Ilham, S.STP., Jatipulo Village Head represented by Jatipulo Village Secretary Mrs. Susilowati, Mitra Jaya 337 Bangkit Chairman Mr. A. Sudradjat, Batuud Peltu Edi Rustandi, Jatipulo Babinsa Serda Rinto Sulistiyanto, Jatipulo Bhabinkamtibmas Aiptu Bambang Suteja, RW.07 Jatipulo Chairman, RW.09 Jatipulo Chairman, RT.002/RW.07 Jatipulo Chairman, community leaders, religious leaders, Jatipulo Village ASN, Koramil 03/GP personnel, Palmerah Police personnel, Mitra Jaya 337 Jatipulo along with several UNDIRA student representatives who attended directly.
In his remarks, West Jakarta Military District Commander Colonel Kav Sigit Dharma Wiryawan, S.H., explained, "Alhamdulillah this morning, the house that we renovated, we completed in approximately 36 days, has been finished. At that time I came here but the condition, as you can see in the picture, the condition was very concerning. Alhamdulillah today it has become a minimalist house. Very livable in my opinion. The floor has also been raised to anticipate flooding."
The activity was more than just a manifestation of both parties not only in handing over keys, but also in building lasting friendship ties. UNDIRA students directly participated in providing gift packages containing basic necessities such as milk, soap, and cooking oil to surrounding residents.
This action is one of the concrete manifestations of the Higher Education Tri Dharma and Impactful DIKTISAINTEK that demonstrates academics' concern not only in improving literacy but also directly improving people's lives. This proves that academics are not just passive figures who merely uphold learning in ivory towers, but also have social responsibility to be actively involved in providing direct contributions to community welfare.
"I would like to thank the people of Jatipulo Village who have helped build this house. I also thank colleagues who have been willing to help, from Dian Nusantara University (UNDIRA) campus, alhamdulillah. This is a concern and togetherness from everyone. This means that in Jatipulo Village we still practice mutual cooperation and we still have care for our brothers and sisters in difficulty," said Colonel Kav Sigit Dharma Wiryawan.
One of the Dian Nusantara University students, Dedy Leonaldi, also expressed that this event is actually a step towards a more flexible and sensitive academic future to community development.
"Through this social service activity, I directly felt how education at UNDIRA not only teaches theory in the classroom, but also shapes character to care for others. When I saw the smiles of the family whose house we renovated and the enthusiasm of residents when receiving assistance, I realized that this is a real manifestation of the values that have been taught by the campus all along. As students, we have the responsibility not only to be academically smart, but also to contribute to the progress of society," said Dedy Leonaldi.
At the same time, Mrs. Nurjayanti, a resident who received assistance from the Uninhabitable House Renovation Program, also expressed her gratitude to all parties involved in the social service activity.
