Flexible Learning in the Age of High Mobility: Study Anywhere & Anytime with Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA)

08 Agustus 2025

Amidst the rapid pace of global development and increasing mobility, today’s generation is required to adapt swiftly through having sufficient knowledge. The result of a synergy between knowledge, strong character, and the ability to manage oneself wisely, all of which can be nurtured through proper education. However, the challenges in today’s education landscape go beyond the quality of teaching and the competence of lecturers and students.

In 2022, according to data from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) as cited by Goodstat, a total of 375,174 students from various higher education levels dropped out or did not continue their studies. This figure was even higher in 2020, with a significant increase of 37.71%, reaching 602,263 students.

Several factors contribute to the high dropout rate, including the distance between students’ homes and campuses, rising transportation costs, and increasingly demanding daily routines. For Generation Z, who were raised in a fast-paced, digital-based era, flexibility has become a top priority. Luckily over time, technological advancements have opened up new opportunities to make education more inclusive and adaptable.

This is what drives Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA) to develop an educational system that meets the real needs of modern learners. They seek education that can be accessed anytime and anywhere—without compromising on quality. UNDIRA understands this need and has designed a learning system that is not only flexible but also upholds high academic standards in accordance with national higher education regulations.

As a higher education institution committed to becoming a Trusted and Professional University with a global vision, UNDIRA offers three adaptive and flexible learning formats: offline (in-person), online, and hybrid.

  • Offline learning provides direct classroom experiences, allowing face-to-face interaction between lecturers and students.
  • Online learning enables students to attend lectures from anywhere through an effective and user-friendly digital platform.
  • Hybrid learning combines the strengths of both online and offline approaches, offering flexibility while maintaining active engagement within the campus environment.

This flexible learning system empowers students to customize their study schedules and methods according to their personal needs and commitments—eliminating barriers of time and space.

Beyond offering diverse learning formats, UNDIRA is also committed to developing relevant academic programs aligned with current industry demands. One of its key innovations to support mobile and flexible learning are the regular organization of public webinars featuring experienced professionals from various fields. These sessions not only enrich students’ knowledge but also make learning much more interactive to both students and lecturers.

In addition, with the support of a DIKTI grant on December 16th, 2024, UNDIRA successfully strengthened its learning system through the implementation of Smart Classroom technology. This implementation not only facilitates the delivery of course materials but also enhances interactivity between lecturers and students in a hybrid learning environment.

Through a technology-driven approach, relevant curriculum, and flexible learning models, UNDIRA ensures that every student has equal opportunities to grow, compete, and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s future.

Ultimately, education is a right for all. Universitas Dian Nusantara is more than just a place of learning—it is an institution committed to supporting each student’s academic journey, anytime and anywhere. UNDIRA has proven itself to be a university that is not only relevant but also responsive to the realities of space, time, and modern life.
