Striving Through the Academic World: The Duty and Spirit of a Student

In the academic world, students hold a vital role as agents of change, expected to contribute meaningfully to national progress. This role makes mindfulness of obligations essential for students navigating college life.
Time management forms a fundamental skill for handling academic demands. At Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA), students learn the importance of vision, integrity, and professionalism in all educational aspects. In interviews, several UNDIRA graduates shared how they optimized their time to achieve success. Rodika Utama, S.T., one of UNDIRA’s top graduates, emphasized adaptability as a key skill in the fast-evolving world of Industry 4.0, illustrating that students must continue honing their ability to adapt to unexpected changes.
UNDIRA emphasizes professional values as essential for student development, creating a curriculum aligned with the Ministry of Education's “Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka” (MBKM) program. This approach integrates Outcome-Based Education (OBE), alignment with industry needs, technological advancements, Project-Based Learning (PBL), and independent research, forming the core principles behind course design at the university.
For UNDIRA students, integrity serves as a central foundation for success, encouraging students to approach their studies responsibly and consistently. At UNDIRA’s second graduation ceremony, Mr. Ir. Bagus Irawan, MBA., a senior advisor at PT PLN, highlighted the importance of having clear goals and motivation, as understanding the purpose behind each step keeps students focused, consistent, and allows them to channel their energy effectively. His perspective underscores how a clear life purpose helps sustain perseverance in academic pursuits.
Ghea Ayudianti, S.IKom., another graduate, advises students to overcome emotional challenges during college, reminding them that all efforts eventually yield beneficial outcomes in the future.
As agents of change for the country and its people, students are expected to bring positive impact for their surroundings. The drive to learn, innovate, and contribute serves as a foundation for students to become part of future solutions. This role impacts not only themselves but also benefits society and the nation as a whole. Realizing that current education will produce long-term results can inspire students to keep striving and seize every opportunity to contribute.
The academic journey is a significant time for students to learn, refine skills, and prepare for their futures. The pursuit of a degree is not just for decoration; it symbolizes a student's integrity and dedication throughout their educational commitment. This commitment, reinforced by the belief that each step forward will bring valuable results, establishes a foundation for students to become individuals who are both knowledgeable and strong in character.
