The Role of Electrical Engineering in the Development of Indonesian Facilities and Infrastructure

Electrical Engineering is one of the study programs that focuses on learning and applying the basic concepts of electricity and electronics to develop, design, and maintain systems and devices that use electricity. In this field, students study various topics such as electrical circuits, electric power systems, analog and digital electronics, telecommunications, automatic control, instrumentation, and computer engineering.
In addition, Electrical Engineering also includes the study of electrical machinery, power generation, distribution systems, microcontrollers, signal processing, and wireless communication technologies. This knowledge is used to design and develop innovative technologies that support various industrial sectors, from energy to telecommunications and information technology. In electronics, this relates to the principles and circuitry of analog and digital electronic units. Knowledge of electricity and device construction allows Electrical Engineering students to be able to assemble various circuits and computing systems.
Electrical Engineering has a wide scope of learning, ranging from electricity to how a telecommunication unit can be built. Electrical Engineering plays an important role in the development of telecommunication systems as it covers various technical aspects that are essential for developing, operating, and maintaining telecommunication infrastructure. Electrical engineers work on the design and optimization of hardware such as antennas, signal amplifiers, and transmission systems that enable long-distance communication.
Applying knowledge of network systems, Electrical Engineering graduates will be involved in the development and implementation of wireless technologies such as 4G and 5G, as well as fiber optic cable systems that form the backbone of high-speed internet. Competence in signal analysis and data processing allows them to ensure transmission quality and network efficiency, which are essential to meet the increasingly complex needs of modern communications.
In terms of development and construction, Electrical Engineering students also have expertise in installing circuits and arranging cable systems in an electronic device. This can branch out into several developments such as the installation of cable lines in buildings or underground cable lines, installation of electrical terminals for several branches of outlets to be connected. This allows coordination as a building supervisor and engineer in a project. For example, in Integrated Circuit (IC) development, Electrical Engineering majors can also contribute to the construction of the electrical circuit of a device's chipset.
Electrical Engineering majors also apply their learning to the world of technological research such as robotics. This field involves the design and development of electronic components such as sensors, actuators, and controllers that are integral to robotic systems. Electrical Engineering also covers signal processing and control systems used to control robot movements and functions with precision. In addition, programming and integration of microprocessor systems and embedded systems are part of Electrical Engineering that support autonomous operation and intelligent interaction in robots. Expertise in energy and power management is also important to ensure robots can operate efficiently and sustainably. Through contributions in these various aspects, Electrical Engineering plays a key role in the innovation and development of robotics technology.
With curiosity and innovation in optimizing the ecosystem in devices, Electrical Engineering majors will have many job paths after graduation. Dian Nusantara University is one of the campuses that provides a place for innovative souls, a place to innovate. This is certainly related to the vision and mission of Dian Nusantara University which is based on; “Global-minded professionals, to meet the needs of the industrial and entrepreneurial world based on Science and Technology in 2030”. Dian Nusantara University Electrical Engineering graduates are expected to become visionaries who are experts in building the country.
