Transforming AI-Powered Research: 10 Essential AI Tools for Faculty and Student Research

The development of technology is currently showing very rapid progress, including the presence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) which has made significant progress in various lines of life. AI has revolutionized many aspects of research in various disciplines. Through various AI tools available today, researchers can be assisted in various stages of research. These tools allow researchers to collect and analyze data more quickly and accurately, compile reports, and ensure the originality of their work through plagiarism checks. With proper use, AI can accelerate academic progress and improve the overall quality of research.
In utilizing AI as a supporting tool in conducting research and research, of course, it is necessary to know more about the benefits, potential, and challenges associated with the use of AI in conducting research. Based on this, the Directorate of Research and Community Service Institute organized a Public Lecture with the theme "AI-Powered Research: Strategies for Advancing Your Academic Career," which was attended by lecturers and students of Dian Nusantara University in their final semester.
This Public Lecture was held on Tuesday, 25 June 2024, at Dian Nusantara University Tanjung Duren Campus, by presenting a competent resource person in the field, namely Ibu Nani Teig, Ph.D. She is an Associate Professor of Science Education at the Department of Teacher Education and School Research and completed her doctoral studies at the University of Oslo.
Mrs Nani Teig, Ph.D presented an overview of AI in academic research, how AI tools can be used in the research process, as well as plagiarism and other ethical considerations in using AI for research. He also talked about the use of AI in teaching and research in higher education. For example, AI can help students find research ideas, such as determining the right research questions and appropriate methods to use in research. In addition, AI can be used for data collection, data analysis, and syntax. AI can also help with writing, such as improving the quality of writing, reformatting citations and references, and translating writing.
There are a lot of AI tools that can help in conducting research, not only for writing, finding literature sources, or analyzing data, but also for various other purposes. Here are the top 10 research AI tools in 2023 that can be used by lecturers and students:
-
