Choosing a college major is one of the major decisions in a prospective student's life. This decision will affect the career, and welfare in the future. Therefore, it is important to consider various factors before deciding on the right major. One of the obstacles that is always felt by most prospective students who will continue their studies to the university level is related to choosing an appropriate college major, some of which are due to prospective students not understanding their interests and talents until the lack of information about majors and career prospects can hinder decision making.

Based on the obstacles experienced by prospective students above, the Dian Nusantara University (UNDIRA) Marketing Bureau organized the Hello Student program, which is an online seminar event attended by high school / vocational high school students from various schools on June 07, 2024, the 2nd Hello Student Series raised the theme “Tips for Choosing the Right Major”. The 2nd Hello Student Series was hosted by Ria Anggun Ariani, S.E., M.Han as the moderator, and presented Mrs. Anya Cahyaning Tiyarestu, M.Psi. who is an Educational Psychologist Aku Pintar as a resource person in this event.

On this occasion, the resource person conveyed tips and strategies that can help fellow students in choosing a college major that best suits their interests, talents, and future career prospects. No less important, Mrs. Anya always emphasizes that the selection of appropriate majors can be realized if students first conduct a self-potential analysis to understand their own interests and talents which will be used as the basis for choosing a college major “Self-potential analysis becomes a gong in choosing the right major, so that we will not choose a major just because we are tempted by FOMO, but also adjusted to the interests and talents of friends” said Educational Psychologist of ‘Aku Pintar’.

Through this activity, it is hoped that it can help students gain a better understanding of the process of choosing a college major that suits their interests and talents. As well as being able to optimize their potential during the lecture period, so that it becomes a valuable provision when entering the world of work in the future.
