Jakarta, September 24, 2026 — Recognizing the vast potential of AI in higher education, the Human Resources Bureau of Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA), in collaboration with Paideia, organized a Google for Education workshop and knowledge-sharing session on Thursday, September 24, 2026. Held online via Google Meet, the event was met with enthusiastic participation from 160 lecturers and staff members of Universitas Dian Nusantara.

Also attending the workshop was UNDIRA Vice Rector II for Resources, Dwi Sapto Febriantaka, M.A., who emphasized that the adoption of AI represents a strategic step toward enhancing the university’s overall performance.

“The utilization and integration of Google and Gemini AI within UNDIRA’s educational ecosystem are certainly aligned with our aspiration to become a globally oriented university driven by science and technology. As an extension of the collaboration between UNDIRA and Paideia, this workshop is expected to help foster a more inclusive and efficient AI ecosystem for the entire UNDIRA academic community. Moving forward, we hope that workshops like this can continue to be held regularly, enabling us to make the most effective and responsible use of AI,” said Mr. Dwi Sapto Febriantaka, M.A.

Sharing a similar perspective, Febriandrini K., S.T., Gr., M.IB., M.Ed., explained that the workshop is part of the Gemini Academy Fellow 2026 program initiated by Google for higher education institutions around the world. Universitas Dian Nusantara is among the higher education institutions in Indonesia given the opportunity to participate in and benefit from the program.

“Through this program, selected higher education institutions have the opportunity to join the Google Reference Summit. This is certainly more than just a privilege; it is also an opportunity for members of the academic community to deepen their understanding while expanding their professional networks in the fields of learning and AI utilization. However, it is important to remember that AI is fundamentally a tool and cannot fully replace the role of human beings,” said Mrs. Febriandrini K.

At the beginning of the AI workshop, participants were introduced to several ways AI is utilized in everyday activities through three key types of technology: machine learning, large language models, and generative AI. Among the various AI technologies available today, Gemini AI, Google’s AI technology integrated into Google Workspace, can help create a more interactive and collaborative learning environment for lecturers, academic staff, and students.

Nevertheless, AI also has limitations that need to be carefully considered. Febriandrini reminded participants that AI is not human and does not always provide accurate or factually correct information. AI training data may not represent every perspective and can even reinforce existing social biases, potentially resulting in outputs that are one-sided or discriminatory. AI can also experience what is known as hallucination, in which it generates seemingly convincing information that is actually fabricated. Therefore, users need to verify AI-generated information and ensure that it is based on facts rather than fabricated content or quotations from sources that do not actually exist.

To help participants achieve more effective results, the workshop introduced practical approaches to writing effective prompts through the PARTS framework: Persona, Aim, Recipients, Theme, and Structure. Participants were also introduced to the Gems feature, a customizable version of Gemini that can be tailored to specific user needs. In the context of higher education, Gems can function as an assistant for answering students’ questions while also serving as a discussion and debate partner for topics relevant to their studies. The training session concluded with a quiz involving members of the UNDIRA academic community.

Ultimately, no matter how advanced the technology becomes, AI remains a tool whose benefits depend greatly on the wisdom of its users. Through this workshop, UNDIRA hopes that its lecturers and staff will not only become more proficient in utilizing Gemini, but will also continue to think critically and uphold academic integrity. In this way, AI can serve as a valuable partner that enriches and strengthens the learning and administrative processes at UNDIRA.
