Jakarta, August 24, 2026 — Strengthening the quality of research and scientific journal publications remains one of the key priorities within the academic community. However, advancing a strong research ecosystem is by no means an easy task. It requires collaboration and collective commitment to ensure that high-quality research can continue to develop consistently and sustainably.

In line with this commitment, the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Region III and Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA) jointly held a collaborative dissemination program entitled “Scientific Journal Mentoring Clinic Toward Science and Technology Index (SINTA) Accreditation” on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the UNDIRA Kranggan Campus.

UNDIRA’s involvement as a facilitator for several higher education institutions under the guidance of LLDIKTI Region III Jakarta was not merely intended to support the implementation of the program. It also represented the commitment of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LRPM) to strengthening the research and scientific publication ecosystem across higher education institutions.

Prof. Ir. Asri Nugrahanti, M.S., Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN Eng., Vice Rector IV for Institutional Development, Research and Community Service, and Cooperation, who attended the event in person, emphasized during the opening session that the collaboration with LLDIKTI Region III was aimed at improving the quality of scientific publication management while further strengthening journal governance to meet the requirements and accreditation standards of the Science and Technology Index (SINTA).

“Scientific journal publication is not simply about the quantity of articles published. We must also uphold credibility and professionalism so that, together, we can continuously improve the quality and management of journals in accordance with the quality standards established by the Science and Technology Index (SINTA). I would like to express my appreciation to the representatives of LLDIKTI Region III Jakarta and all representatives of higher education institutions under its guidance for their commitment to participating in today’s dissemination program. I believe that, together, we can build a stronger research and education ecosystem for Indonesia, one step at a time,” said Prof. Ir. Asri Nugrahanti.

Prof. Asri Nugrahanti further emphasized that the mentoring program was designed to develop a more comprehensive understanding of journal management in line with the requirements established for scientific journal accreditation. More importantly, the mentoring process is expected to go beyond administrative compliance and contribute to the development of a sustainable culture of quality across the entire academic community.

The two speakers at the dissemination program, Yananto Mihadi Putra, S.E., M.Si., and Yazid Hady, M.Pd., discussed a range of topics related to scientific journal management and publication. They highlighted that well-managed journals should not be viewed merely as information platforms, but also as credible channels for the dissemination and downstream application of academic knowledge, supported by professional management practices.

“Consistent attention must be given to the quality and relevance of articles, rather than focusing solely on publication consistency. We need to identify opportunities for improvement throughout the entire pre-publication and post-publication cycle so that the journals we manage can meet the standards required under the SINTA accreditation system while continuously improving their overall quality,” said Yananto Mihadi Putra.

Yazid Hady subsequently presented several key points aimed at deepening the participants’ substantive understanding and perspectives on scientific journal management.

Participants were given the opportunity to evaluate various aspects of journal management, ranging from governance and article quality to the publication process and fulfillment of accreditation requirements. Through this approach, the outcomes of the program are expected to go beyond conceptual understanding and translate into measurable follow-up actions for each participating journal.

“Improving journal quality cannot be achieved through isolated efforts. It requires a shared commitment from everyone involved in the scientific publication ecosystem, including journal managers, higher education institutions, authors, reviewers, editors, and higher education stakeholders. Such collaboration serves as an essential foundation for building a credible, consistent, and sustainable scholarly publishing process,” he stated.

In this context, journal accreditation should not be viewed as an end in itself. Accreditation is one of the outcomes of a well-managed, high-quality journal supported by sound governance and the consistent implementation of publication standards. Therefore, quality improvement efforts should focus not only on preparing for accreditation assessments but also on strengthening a culture of quality throughout the entire scientific publishing process.

The collaboration with LLDIKTI Region III is also part of UNDIRA’s broader effort to strengthen institutional networks and facilitate the sharing of best practices among higher education journal managers. Through continued interaction and mentoring, the initiative is expected to create a shared learning environment that can contribute to broader improvements in the quality of scientific publications.

Ultimately, pursuing SINTA accreditation is not simply about obtaining a rating or recognition. It is about building high-quality journals that are professionally managed and capable of making a meaningful contribution to the advancement of knowledge.
