Jakarta, February 5, 2024 - The Communication Forum of the Indonesian Electrical Student Association (FKHMEI) held the opening ceremony of the XIVth National Conference (Munas) at the UNDIRA Tanjung Duren Hall. The event was scheduled to last until Friday (9/2) and was opened directly by the Rector of Dian Nusantara University, Prof. Dr. H. Suharyadi, MS.

In his remarks in front of more than 100 FKHMEI student members, he said that students should be active in organizational activities in addition to academic activities on campus. This is important to add relationships and networks between students throughout Indonesia.

In addition to the Rector of UNDIRA, the opening of the FKHMEI XIV National Conference was also attended by the Vice Rector III of Dian Nusantara University, Dr. Ir. Hasanudin Thoyieb, MM., Head of the Electrical Engineering Study Program, Dr. Yohanes Galih Adhiyoga, Head of the UNDIRA Student Affairs Bureau, Rengga Sendrian, M.Hum, and the FKHMEI central board.

As a series of events to open the National Conference, a National Seminar was held entitled "Innovation in Potential Development in Building a Sustainable Future with the Active Participation of Indonesian Electrical Students".

This National Seminar was filled by two speakers, Prof. Evvy Kartini, Founder of the National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) and Mr. Hasrul Baki Hasibuan, ST., Head of the Electronics Department of BBPVP, Ministry of Manpower RI.

At the beginning of her presentation, Prof. Evvy Kartini showed various data showing that Indonesia's potential in the independence of the battery industry is very open including the Electric Vehicle Industry. She also emphasized the SDGs mandate launched by the UN as a basis for Indonesia to create a Smart City ecosystem, and accelerate the use of Renewable Energy as an effort to overcome world climate change.

However, according to him, time is a problem for now because the government has targeted Net Zero Emission in 2045 and the use of 13 million units of Electric Vehicles in 2030. He assessed that with the current conditions, without a sustainable ecosystem, Indonesia is still a bit difficult to achieve.

In the middle of her presentation, Prof. Evvy also told about her experience when she met Prof. Dr. John B Goodenough who is the inventor of the lithium-ion battery as well as the Nobel Prize winner in 2019. Since then he has had a big dream to have a research center on batteries which he has currently pioneered through NBRI.

In the second session, Mr. Hasrul Baki Hasibuan delivered material about electric vehicles ranging from benefits to challenges that will become problems so that solutions need to be found.
"As an Electrical student, you should feel lucky because the field of Electrical and Informatics is currently the prima donna in the next few years. The direction of technological development is clear, namely IoT and Electric Vehicles," he added while motivating the students present.

He also reminded the students to reflect on their role as agents of change where they should be the ones offering tactical solutions to the problems faced when talking about Electric Vehicles.
At the end of his presentation, he reminded that the spirit of a student is in the positive impact given to the surrounding environment. He quoted Tan Malaka's words, "The purpose of education is to sharpen the intellect, strengthen the will and refine feelings."

This year's National Conference event has entered its XIVth implementation, where previously similar activities were held regularly every 2 years in turn on campuses that have become FKHMEI members. This year UNDIRA is trusted to be the host in organizing the XIV National Conference which lasts for five days at the 6th Floor Hall of UNDIRA Tanjung Duren Campus.
In addition to the National Seminar, the series of National Conference events which have the main agenda of the New Management Formation Deliberation are also filled with Student Innovation Tool Exhibitions and Student Art Performance Entertainment.
