The Euphoria of the Cryptocurrency Trend and Its Implications for Educational Interest Among the Youth
The human pursuit of identity manifests in various ways, ranging from the exploration of novel activities to the articulation of seemingly unconventional ideas.
Given the advent of modern trends that offer various advantages—such as the ubiquity of social media and the accessibility of information—it is unsurprising that the adolescent search for identity appears more vocalized in the contemporary era than in preceding times.
However, amidst these vocal discourses, a prevalent sentiment emerging among today’s youth is the notion that "education is inconsequential; cryptocurrency trading is preferable." This phenomenon is undoubtedly predicated on the potential for substantial financial yields, as well as a paradigm shift among the younger generation seeking liberation from reality—specifically, in this context, the realm of formal education.
While cryptocurrency as an investment vehicle offers significant profit potential, in reality, it carries inherent high-stakes risks that can detrimentally impact one’s financial stability. It is within this context that education serves as a fundamental solution for us all.
Education, despite the varying degrees of rigor at each level, remains a primary necessity incumbent upon all individuals. This principle is enshrined in the Pancasila, particularly in the fifth precept: "Social Justice for All the People of Indonesia." Furthermore, the educational ecosystem possesses an attribute that cannot be replicated by digital assets: Risk Management.
Through education, individuals acquire a breadth of knowledge—both academic and non-academic—along with skill enrichment and competencies. Moreover, the academic credential (diploma) serves as a "Safety Net" for the future. When one immerses oneself in the world of cryptocurrency or pursues other avocations without the foundational backing of education, one must consider the consequences should plans fail to materialize. Hence, education effectively functions as a mechanism for future Risk Management.
Additionally, the educational sphere inculcates the culture of networking. Networking facilitates the establishment of connections that not only propel success but also foster long-term interpersonal relationships (silaturahmi), thereby creating mutually beneficial alliances.
The professional world necessitates an understanding not merely of theoretical knowledge, but also of professional character and diverse human behavioral types—nuances that cannot be fully grasped solely by analyzing market charts. Communication proficiency is paramount, and this represents one of the core competencies acquired upon entering the educational domain.
There are numerous accounts of prominent entrepreneurs who initially encountered their business partners within the academic environment. One notable example is that of Paul Allen and Bill Gates, who initially shared a common interest in IT and computer development, eventually establishing Microsoft in 1975.
Ultimately, education stands as a long-term investment irreplaceable by ephemeral trends such as cryptocurrency, for it is within education that one constructs character, risk management strategies, and a robust professional network for the future.
