Enhancing Academic Digital Literacy, LRPM Universitas Dian Nusantara Holds Workshop “Smart Information Searching: Utilizing Gale and Latest E-Resources”

Jakarta, July 25, 2025 — The Research and Community Service Institute (LRPM) of Universitas Dian Nusantara successfully held the event “Smart Information Searching: Workshop on Utilizing Gale and Latest E-Resources” on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM WIB. The workshop was conducted online via Google Meet.
This event aimed to enhance the understanding of the academic community of Universitas Dian Nusantara—including lecturers and students—in accessing, utilizing, and optimizing digital information sources, particularly through e-resources and scientific databases such as Gale.
The event was officially opened by Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, Mr. Ir. Margono Sugeng, M.Sc., who also delivered a welcoming speech. He emphasized to participants—which included lecturers and student representatives from various academic departments—the importance of mastering digital literacy in today’s era of transformation, especially in higher education.
“Information literacy is a fundamental pillar in the development of knowledge. Through the use of e-resources, lecturers and students can access various relevant and credible scientific references as a foundation for research and learning activities,” said Mr. Ir. Margono Sugeng, M.Sc., on Friday, July 25, 2025.
The workshop featured two experienced and competent speakers in the fields of library science and digital scientific information management.
The first speaker, Mr. Sutrilastio, SS., M.Hum., a Senior Librarian from the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia, delivered a presentation titled “Utilization of E-Resources at the National Library.” He explained the various digital services available nationally, as well as how to access e-books, journals, and other scientific references provided by the National Library.
The second speaker, Mr. Rengga Sendrian, M.Hum., Head of the Library Bureau at Universitas Dian Nusantara, presented a session titled “Gale Utilization Guidelines” discussing strategies for searching scholarly information through the Gale database, including tips and techniques for effective searching and how Gale supports academic publication within the university community.
Approximately 50 participants, consisting of lecturers and student representatives from various departments at Universitas Dian Nusantara, attended the workshop enthusiastically. The interactive discussions and Q&A sessions were dynamic, reflecting strong interest in improving digital information-searching skills.
This activity is part of LRPM Universitas Dian Nusantara’s ongoing efforts to support the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the areas of education and research, by strengthening information literacy capacity and the use of digital library-based technologies.
