UNDIRA Holds Risk-Based Internal Audit Training as a Commitment to Improve Education Quality

Jakarta, June 20, 2025 – Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA), through its Quality Assurance Unit (LPM), has once again reaffirmed its strong commitment to improving the quality of higher education by conducting a Risk-Based Internal Quality Audit (AMI) Training, held on June 19–20, 2025, at the Tanjung Duren Campus, West Jakarta. This initiative is a strategic step in strengthening the implementation of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) in line with the mandate of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation (Permendikbudristek) No. 53 of 2023.
The event was officially opened by Ir. Margono Sugeng, M.Sc., Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs, who emphasized the significance of risk-based AMI training in elevating education quality amidst evolving regulations and growing demands for excellence.
He stated that the quality of higher education is a foundational element for achieving institutional excellence and competitiveness in today’s global landscape.
“Quality is not merely a supplementary component—it serves as the very foundation for achieving excellence and global competitiveness in today’s era,” he remarked.
He further highlighted two key points regarding the importance of risk-based Internal Audit Training:
First, he stressed the relevance of the risk-based audit approach, particularly in navigating the complex challenges posed by changing regulations, rapid technological advancements, and heightened stakeholder expectations. This approach, he said, enables institutions to identify potential risks early and take necessary mitigation measures to ensure the quality assurance system functions effectively, efficiently, and with clear targets.
“By identifying and analyzing risks early on, we can anticipate and mitigate potential challenges, ensuring that our quality assurance system operates with precision and purpose,” he explained.
Second, he pointed out that the recent regulatory shift introduced through Permendikbudristek No. 53 of 2023 brings a new paradigm in higher education governance—one that underscores accountability and transparency. Therefore, a deep understanding of this regulation should serve as a key reference for auditors in executing high-quality and professional audits.
The training featured Dr. Ir. Desiana Vidayanti, M.T., a National Facilitator for Higher Education Quality Assurance, as the keynote speaker, moderated by Sri Hesti, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom., Head of the Quality Assurance Unit at Universitas Dian Nusantara.
In her presentation, Dr. Desiana expressed her admiration for UNDIRA’s rapid progress, noting that although the university is approaching only its sixth year, it already exhibits the characteristics of a well-established institution.
“Despite being only five years old, UNDIRA already demonstrates the stature of a mature university. This is a testament to its extraordinary commitment to quality,” she said.
Dr. Desiana also emphasized the crucial role of auditors as the frontline defenders of quality assurance, not only as examiners but also as strategic partners who support institutional units in improving their governance in alignment with accreditation standards.
“SPMI is an internal quality control system. When we talk about accreditation, we are essentially verifying whether the institution’s established quality standards are truly being implemented. And this begins internally—with a strong internal audit process,” she added.
The training was attended by lecturers representing each faculty at Universitas Dian Nusantara, who have now been appointed as auditors and prospective auditors for the 2024/2025 academic year.
Throughout the training, participants were equipped with both theoretical and practical knowledge, including: an introduction to AMI and risk-based AMI, AMI planning and implementation, document audit techniques and checklist development, hands-on checklist preparation for document audits, field audit techniques, and audit report writing.
This Risk-Based Internal Quality Audit Training serves as tangible evidence of UNDIRA’s responsiveness to regulatory changes and its proactive efforts to cultivate a sustainable culture of quality. Through this strategic, risk-oriented audit approach, UNDIRA affirms the essential role of internal auditors as both frontline agents and strategic partners in fostering a higher education governance system that is more adaptive, accountable, and competitive in today’s academic environment.
