UNDIRA Students Visit the European Union Delegation: Synergy for Global Insight and International Collaboration

Wednesday, June 11, 2025 — Dian Nusantara University (UNDIRA) once again conducted an official visitation, this time to the Delegation of the European Union located on the 3rd floor of the Astra Tower, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Central Jakarta. The visit involved students from the Management and English Literature study programs. During this occasion, the students not only had the opportunity to directly learn about the social and cultural systems of the European Union, but also gained in-depth insights into the international relations between Indonesia and Europe.
Several faculty members from UNDIRA also accompanied the students during the visit, including Mr. Todo Sibuea (Head of the English Literature Study Program), Mr. Luthfi Alhazami (Head of the Center for General Mandatory Courses), and Mr. Rahmat (Secretary of the Management Study Program). The EU Delegation warmly welcomed the group, with representatives including Mrs. Laura (Political Advisor to the EU Delegation), Mr. Hans (Deputy Head of the Trade and Economic Section), and Mr. Markus Eko (Trade and Economics Officer).
In her welcoming remarks, Mrs. Laura expressed her appreciation for UNDIRA’s visit to the EU Delegation. She also shared current updates on social conditions within the European Union. Known as one of the world’s leading centers of technological development—particularly in the automotive sector—and as the founding region behind the world’s first AI regulatory framework, the European Union remains strongly committed to peace, stability, and progress.
Mrs. Laura further highlighted that the EU offers academic opportunities such as scholarships for Master’s degree programs available to international students, including those from Indonesia. This represents a golden opportunity for students seeking to continue their education in Europe and to enhance their global competencies.
Following this, Mr. Markus delivered a presentation on export-import relations between the European Union, Indonesia, and other countries around the world. He noted the recent ratification of the IEU CEPA (Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement), a landmark trade agreement aiming to enhance bilateral export and import relations.
Mr. Markus emphasized that Indonesia, currently the EU’s 5th largest trading and business partner, holds great potential to become a developed country—supported by robust exports in sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, and minerals. He explained that with IEU CEPA, both parties are expected to see significant economic strengthening. He also underscored the strategic role of technology in enhancing the global competitiveness of Indonesian products.
Mr. Hans added insights on the stringent standards required for products to enter the European market. Nevertheless, he encouraged Indonesian students and young entrepreneurs to explore export opportunities to the EU—provided they meet the established criteria.
During the same session, Mr. Rahmat and Mr. Todo expressed their gratitude for the warm reception from the EU Delegation and reaffirmed the vision and mission of UNDIRA’s Management and English Literature Study Programs. They hope that this activity will strengthen students' global perspectives and prepare them to become competent individuals ready to face international challenges.
This visit marked an important milestone in strengthening ties between educational institutions and diplomatic entities, opening broader opportunities for students in both academic and career development fields in the future.
