Campus Caring, Community Prospering: UNDIRA Strengthens Bonds of Fellowship on Eid al-Adha 1446H Through Qurban Sharing

Friday, June 6, 2025 – Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice or Lebaran Haji, returns with an atmosphere that not only evokes deep historical meaning but also fosters a strong sense of closeness among Muslims around the world. Rooted in the touching story of a father and son — Prophet Ibrahim AS and Prophet Ismail AS — Eid al-Adha is a moment that symbolizes sincerity and blessings for both the affluent and the less fortunate.
The celebration of Eid al-Adha begins with the evening filled with the rhythmic chanting of takbir until dawn. Communities gather to perform the Eid prayer (Shalat Id), followed by the central event — the ritual sacrifice of qurban animals such as cows, goats, sheep, and buffaloes (and while not commonly traded in Indonesia, camels are also permissible as qurban animals). After the slaughter, the meat is then distributed to those in need.
To commemorate the spirit of sharing during Eid al-Adha 1446H, Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA) once again held a qurban event at the Mutiara Halim Cantiga Butchery, located in Cengkareng, West Jakarta. The meat was then distributed to surrounding communities and UNDIRA’s academic staff. The distribution was carried out across three UNDIRA campuses — Tanjung Duren Campus, Greenville Campus, and Cibubur Campus.
This year, the qurban committee included not only UNDIRA staff but also enthusiastic student volunteers who contributed wholeheartedly to this joyous occasion.
Two goats were donated — one by an UNDIRA student and the other along with two cows by 14 UNDIRA employees, reflecting the university’s ongoing commitment to appreciation and social responsibility, an annual tradition that reflects UNDIRA’s values.
Through this qurban-sharing initiative, UNDIRA reaffirms that an educational institution is not solely focused on academic excellence, but also on the public welfare of its surrounding communities through various ongoing social programs. Eid al-Adha brings both blessings and social unity, where people from all walks of life come together in harmony under the grace of Allah SWT.
May we all be granted abundant blessings from this sacred occasion. "Taqabbalallahu minna wa minkum" – Happy Eid al-Adha.
