MSMEs Towards International Trade: UNDIRA and Bandung City Trade Office Hold “Mentoring Go Export 2025”

Bandung, February 4-5, 2025 – The Directorate of Innovation and Business Development at Dian Nusantara University, in collaboration with the Bandung City Trade Office, held the “Mentoring Go Export 2025” event, themed "Export Entrepreneurship in Facing Trade Industry 5.0", at the Savoy Homann Hotel in Bandung, West Java.

The event was opened by the Acting Head of the Bandung City Trade and Industry Office, Drs. Ronny Ahmad Nurudin, M.M., who emphasized the importance of MSME business management to enable their products to be exported worldwide. He stated that exporting local products not only boosts national revenue and benefits MSME entrepreneurs but also creates a healthy and sustainable trade ecosystem in the long run.

To further encourage the entrepreneurs, Mr. Ronny Ahmad Nurudin personally visited each MSME booth, where business owners showcased their products, ranging from handicrafts, clothing, sandals, shoes, eco-friendly bags, to food and beverages such as herbal drinks, chips, and cookies.

Mr. Eriklex Donald, S.E., M.M., Director of Innovation and Business Development at Dian Nusantara University, highlighted that exporting is a key strategy to maximize trade efficiency. He provided valuable insights on selecting products that align with international supply-demand trends and tips on building a strong and aesthetically appealing brand for the global market.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Steph Subanidja, Director of the Graduate School at Perbanas Institute, emphasized the importance of SWOT analysis in identifying MSME product strengths and weaknesses. "With this approach, Bandung's MSMEs can analyze and determine which markets demand their products," he stated.

Prof. Dr. Ari Purwanti, S.E., M.Ak., a Senior Lecturer at Dian Nusantara University, stressed the significance of financial reporting in business operations. "Financial reports help track cash flow and profits, both gross and net. Proper financial management is essential for business growth," she explained.

During the session "Information Technology Management for Export-Oriented Businesses", Mr. Eriklex Donald, S.E., M.M., highlighted the role of IT in enhancing business competitiveness in the global market. Mrs. Desi Ramayanti, S.Kom., M.T., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Informatics at Dian Nusantara University, provided guidance on digital business strategies using social media and websites. She emphasized the importance of leveraging platforms like Instagram and TikTok for online product marketing and understanding market strategies and content creation to attract customers.

Additionally, Mrs. Anita Ratnasari, S.Kom., M.Kom., an IT practitioner and Head of the Informatics Engineering Department at UNDIRA, along with Mrs. Bias Yulisa Geni, S.Kom., M.Kom., a Lecturer in Informatics Engineering at UNDIRA, delivered a session on "Information Technology Management for Export-Oriented Businesses". They discussed the significance of business process automation using Google Drive and Google Sites for data management and market analytics. Furthermore, they emphasized the importance of modernizing digital payment systems, such as PayPal and Mastercard, to facilitate international transactions.

The two-day mentoring program received an enthusiastic response from MSME entrepreneurs. They expressed hopes that by implementing the knowledge gained during the event, their businesses could seize opportunities to compete in the international trade market. Through technology-driven business training, automation, financial literacy, and marketing techniques, Bandung's MSMEs are expected to elevate their businesses and expand into global markets.
