Comparative Study on Literature: UNDIRA Holds a Visit and Focused Group Discussion with UKRIDA

On October 14, 2024, the English Literature Study Program of Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA) conducted a study visit to Universitas Kristen Krida Wacana (UKRIDA).
A total of nine representatives from UNDIRA, consisting of four lecturers and five students, participated in the visit to UKRIDA, located at Jl. Tanjung Duren Raya No. 4, West Jakarta, DKI Jakarta. The purpose of this visit was to exchange insights on innovations and programs and to strengthen connections among students of the English Literature Study Program.
The event began with a welcoming speech by Ira Rasikawati, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at UKRIDA, followed by remarks from Todo F. B. Sibuea, S.Pd., M.Hum., Head of the English Literature Study Program at UNDIRA. Mr. Sibuea expressed his hopes for potential collaborations and partnerships between the two universities' study programs. He also emphasized that the discussion outcomes could provide knowledge and insights to be implemented in the future.
The Student Executive Body (BEM) of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at UKRIDA organized various creative activities during the Focus Group Discussion session, including English Day. During this program, all UKRIDA staff and students communicated exclusively in English within the university environment and assumed roles as “Ukridians.” The activity also introduced new themes every week to enhance engagement.
Meanwhile, representatives from UNDIRA’s Student Executive Body introduced the English Literature Student Association and one of its flagship programs, The Sasing’s. This program aims to promote ethical values, enhance literary and applied linguistic skills, and foster student potential with a commitment to development.
Based on the discussions held, UNDIRA is currently planning the establishment of an English Club. Similar to English Day, this program will offer various engaging activities as a platform for learning English.
The visit concluded with a campus tour and a presentation of student works from UKRIDA, including films, short stories, and narrative comics that were part of student projects.
With the spirit of Lead to Impact, UKRIDA remains committed to creating spaces for discussions with various parties, aiming to deliver tangible benefits to society and foster creative collaborations. The visit also served as a source of development for UNDIRA’s English Literature Student Association (HIMA Sastra Inggris) in advancing innovations and creativity within their study program.
