Bawaslu Held A Seminar to Encourage UNDIRA Students to Increase Insight in the 2024 Regional Elections
Jakarta, November 21, 2024 – Bawaslu DKI Jakarta held a socialization event titled "Bawaslu Goes to Campus" at Dian Nusantara University (UNDIRA), Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta. The program aimed to raise political awareness and encourage students to actively participate as voters and agents of change.
The event, moderated by the university's Student Affairs Division, took place on the 6th floor of UNDIRA and was opened by Mr. Norman Yachya, S.T., MM, MBA, Director of Student Affairs. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the importance of transparency in the 2024 Regional Elections, which will involve around 8.2 million residents of Jakarta. He highlighted that students, as the vanguard of change, are expected to actively oversee a fair and honest electoral process.
Mr. Burhanuddin, a representative from Bawaslu DKI Jakarta, elaborated on Bawaslu’s duties as mandated by Law No. 10 of 2017, which include ensuring that elections run smoothly and fairly. "Students play a strategic role, not only as voters but also as responsible election monitors," he stated.

The socialization program also featured Mrs. Kornelia Johana Dacosta, M.Ikom, Head of Public Relations at UNDIRA, who underlined the role of students as academics with heightened political awareness. "This awareness is crucial for choosing leaders who are wise and possess integrity, while also combating fraud and misinformation during the election process," she explained.
The discussion was further enriched by Ms. Mila Muzakkar, who encouraged students to voice their aspirations through various creative outlets. According to her, students, as critical thinkers and societal drivers, bear significant responsibility in shaping the nation's future.

Through this program, Bawaslu hopes that students will not only participate as voters but also act as intelligent and proactive election observers. Regional elections are not merely a duty but a crucial moment to determine policies that will have long-term impacts on society.
