To Know is To Love: Welcome to Hello Kampus at UNDIRA

On September 2, 2024, the Hello Kampus event was held at Dian Nusantara University in Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta. This event was organized for new students for the odd semester of the 2024-2025 academic year. Hello Kampus is an event organized by the Public Relations Bureau in collaboration with the Student Affairs Bureau to introduce new students to university life. The event was held offline and attended by more than 250 participants online.
The event continued with an opening session by Mr. Suharto, Head of the Administrative Vocational School and Training Section of West Jakarta. In his opening remarks, he emphasized that campus life is a new phase, distinct from high school and vocational school experiences. Dian Nusantara University is committed to providing quality and enjoyable education while encouraging students to explore their interests to contribute to society. Through the role of students as academics, even a small step can lead to significant change for both individuals and the community.
Following this, there was a speech by Vice-Rector III Dr. Ir. Hasanudin Thoyieb, MM., who stated that the actions taken by the new students are revolutionary. In university life, three core values serve as the pillars of UNDIRA's educational activities: Visionary, Integrity, and Professionalism. It is important to remember that a person's vision is not merely about short-term worldly goals but also about using the knowledge gained as a provision for the hereafter.
Next, the concept of Integrity was discussed, emphasizing its role in understanding oneself and adapting to diverse environments with different ethnicities, backgrounds, and generational gaps. By embodying Integrity, individuals can be accountable for activities aligned with their field of study. Strong integrity formation will lead individuals to become professional beings.
Following this, a session on Character Building was delivered by Samsul Rahman Lumosa M.A., from LPK and a Master Trainer in Public Speaking. It is well known that a person is a representation of what they think. One key to building a successful future is having a Growth Mindset or an open-minded approach.
A person with a Growth Mindset can influence the speed of their intellectual growth, enabling self-reflection on character development and individual success. Additionally, being oneself is one method of character building that will aid in self-empowerment, allowing them to move forward in advancing their lives. Furthermore, self-reflection can be a key to optimizing character and success strategies.
A Growth Mindset concept can also be developed through self-affirmation or by creating a personal brand identity. With self-affirmation to surpass self-limitations, motivation becomes part of the Growth Mindset. At the end of the presentation, there was a self-reflection session accompanied by various emotional reactions.
Through the brief introspection session taat was conducted at the end of the event, it was emphasized that graduates need to be not only academically educated but also principled. Essentially, change and self-limitation exist only within an individual’s perception that restricts their development. Change begins from within; thus, self-reflection and affirmation of achieved accomplishments are key to success. To produce graduates with these qualities, Dian Nusantara University, guided by the principles of Visionary, Integrity, and Professionalism, strives to provide the most comprehensive preparation possible, enabling graduates to become the best individuals not only for their future but also for the nation.
