Highlighting The Role of Social Media In Actor and Entrepreneurship Perspectives: Student Lively Rumpi Seminar

With the increase in social media traffic, many new influencers and KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) have emerged as trendsetters to promote an activity or a place of interest. Therefore, it cannot be denied that social existence has become an aspect that cannot be abandoned for society, both as a medium of entertainment and a source of profit.
As a form of provision for UNDIRA students, the Communication Science Student Association of DIan Nusantara University (HIMAKOM) held a seminar discussing the influence of social media in digital communication.
Dian Nusantara University Communication Science Student Association (Himakom Undira) held the "Rumpi Asik Mahasiswa" seminar for the second time. This event took place on Saturday, 13 July 2024, at the Campus Hall, 6th Floor, Dian Nusantara University, by presenting two speakers: Co-Founder of Sambal Bakar Indonesia, Faraz Nazari, and actor Jourdy Pranata, known for his role in the film "Badarawuhi di Desa Penari".
This seminar was themed "Elevating Communications Industry in Digital Era: Actor and Entrepreneur Perspectives," highlighted the importance of social media in the film industry and food and beverage business. Both speakers said that social media now has a significant role. Jourdy Pranata explained that social media is very important in film, both during the production process and promotional media. According to him, Indonesians not only want to watch the film, they are also curious about the behind the scenes of the film, thus increasing enthusiasm for the film.
Social media is often used for film promotion, either through trailers or behind-the-scenes looks. In addition, social media is also used to showcase daily activities and shape one's image, although it is not uncommon to get negative responses from netizens. In the seminar, Jourdy said that he uses social media every day and posts activities such as sports and film shooting, which naturally shapes his image.
Likewise, Faraz Nazari explained how social media as a medium to promote his current business, Sambel Bakar Indonesia. In addition, Faraz, his nickname, told us about his early days in the business world. Starting from opening a shirt and thai tea reseller business in 2014, to successfully establishing a business of more than 100 Summer Mini Bars branches. Faraz also shared the role of social media as a marketing strategy in running the Sambel Bakar Indonesia business. Collaborating with famous tiktokers such as Iben MA and Richard Theodore, they managed to open the restaurant with 23 restaurant branches throughout Indonesia.
The seminar was interactive with many participants asking some very interesting questions. Attended by around 160 people, this event was held to provide insight to students about the important role of social media and how to utilise it positively.
