Jakarta, September 21, 2026 — New beginnings continue to mark the third quarter of the year at Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA). On September 19, 2026, a total of 1,529 new students officially became part of the UNDIRA academic community through the Opening of the Odd Semester for the 2026–2027 Academic Year, held at UNDIRA’s Kranggan and Tanjung Duren Campuses. More than a ceremonial occasion, the event marked an important milestone for UNDIRA’s newest students as they embarked on a new chapter of their higher education journey.

The opening of the semester was held in a solemn and meaningful atmosphere. Rector of Universitas Dian Nusantara, Prof. Dr. H. Suharyadi, M.S., attended the event in person alongside the Chairman of the Dian Asra Foundation, Mr. Sagoro Dharmawan, S.E., and the Chairwoman of the Amri Jaya Foundation, Mrs. Fadlun Umar. Also in attendance were the Vice Rectors I through IV, deans, Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs from across UNDIRA, as well as the Heads of Bureaus and Divisions representing various university units. Together with the university leadership, the Rector expressed his appreciation and extended a warm welcome to the new faces joining the UNDIRA community at the beginning of the new semester.

Following a heartfelt prayer led by the Vice Rector III, Dr. Ir. Muhammad Hasanuddin Thoyieb, Prof. Dr. H. Suharyadi also shared several reflective messages with the entire UNDIRA academic community. He emphasized that university life should not be solely about pursuing high grades and academic achievement. Rather, students are encouraged to grow into individuals who are able to care for others and consistently contribute to society through meaningful innovations and active involvement in student activities.

“UNDIRA is committed to continuously serving as a compass in providing the best possible learning and educational experience. We also hope that, moving forward, all of you will not only become humble and grounded individuals for yourselves, but also contribute to the nation through relevant and impactful perspectives grounded in knowledge. As UNDIRA approaches its seventh anniversary, the university has achieved various accomplishments, including three study programs that have received Excellent Accreditation. Looking ahead, UNDIRA also plans to open four new study programs: two undergraduate programs, Industrial Engineering and Information Systems, as well as two master’s programs in Communication Studies and Management. I hope that all of you will graduate on time, pursue your dreams and aspirations, and become adaptive and wise graduates. With the blessing of Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I hereby officially open the 2026–2027 Academic Year,” he said.

Following the meaningful message delivered by the Rector, Chairman of the Dian Asra Foundation, Mr. Sagoro Dharmawan, S.E., also shared several valuable insights with the new students, particularly regarding the use of technology and artificial intelligence (AI). He highlighted how an era marked by rapid technological development and information disruption is increasingly reshaping the way students approach and absorb knowledge. Students who once went home carrying questions in their minds may now find themselves leaving with answers that bring the conversation to an immediate full stop. Mr. Sagoro Dharmawan described this as one of the manifestations of AI Overuse, or excessive reliance on AI.

“We used to go home carrying questions, but now we may simply go home with a full stop. This is certainly one of the smaller consequences of industrial realities, AI Overuse, and an era of information disruption, which can increasingly create an illusion of comprehension and competence. In today’s professional world, GPA occupies a relatively smaller portion of the equation compared with the era experienced by our parents. The question today is no longer simply what we want to become in the future, but what we want to create for ourselves and for others,” said Mr. Sagoro Dharmawan 

“Through learning resources supported by Google Education and Google Workspace, UNDIRA remains committed to building the best possible educational journey and track record for its students. At the same time, you are also encouraged not merely to consume information, but to test, explore, and experiment with it in order to strengthen your critical thinking skills, so that in the future you can take responsibility for what you have learned. Let us continue to engage in discussion while strengthening our integrity and professionalism. Happy learning, and I wish you every success,” he further stated.

Marking the highlight of the Opening of the Odd Semester for the 2026–2027 Academic Year, the event continued with the reading of Decree No. 01/026/A-SKep/IX/2026 concerning the official admission of new undergraduate students for the 2026–2027 Academic Year. This was followed by an explanation of academic regulations and lecture procedures delivered by Vice Rector I, Ir. Margono Sugeng, M.Sc.

The event then proceeded with the ceremonial presentation of UNDIRA almamater jackets to four student representatives: Syahrul Maulidin from the Communication Studies Program, Alfina Nayra Ramadhani from the Informatics Engineering Program, Gideon Novri Makalew from the Informatics Engineering Program, and Zahra Salsabila Putri from the Communication Studies Program. The jackets were presented by the Rector together with the Chairman of the Dian Asra Foundation, officially bringing the event to its closing segment.

The opening of the semester marks a new chapter for UNDIRA’s 1,529 new students. The presentation of the almamater jackets to student representatives serves as a symbol of responsibility, reminding every student that each step taken on campus is part of the preparation to one day contribute meaningfully both to themselves and to the people around them.
