Enhancing Competitiveness of Local MSMEs – Management Study Program Lecturers at UNDIRA Conduct Community Service for Residents of Kemayoran, Central Jakarta
Jakarta, April 28, 2026 – Advances in technology and the expansion of social media have transformed how industries operate, both at large scales and within micro sectors such as Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). However, beyond creating opportunities, such progress also presents challenges for entrepreneurs, particularly in adapting to shifting demographic preferences and increasingly intense business competition.
This situation encouraged three lecturers from the Management Study Program at Dian Nusantara University (UNDIRA)—Mr. Achmad Tarmizi, SE, MM; Mr. Agung Suprayitno, ST, MBA; and Ms. Ir. Dian Meliantari, MM—to conduct a Community Service (PkM) activity for residents of RW 001 Sukamulia, Kemayoran District, Central Jakarta on February 13th 2026.
Carrying the theme “Community Empowerment Through Entrepreneurship Training Based on Local MSME Products,” the program was enthusiastically attended by 15 participants, primarily housewives. The main objective of the initiative was to enhance participants’ capabilities and understanding of entrepreneurship, with a particular focus on leveraging the potential of local products. This approach is expected not only to add value to local wisdom but also to strengthen Indonesian-made products within the market.
Mr. Achmad Tarmizi, as the head of the program, stated that the activity is expected to stimulate community economic growth while fostering a sustainable business ecosystem.
“We hope this training and empowerment program will not only increase community knowledge but also build the confidence to develop businesses based on local products with high revenue potential,” he remarked.
In addition to lectures, the program featured interactive discussion sessions and hands-on practice, enabling participants to directly apply the concepts to their own businesses. The empowerment process began with an introduction to fundamental entrepreneurship concepts and techniques for developing local MSME products aligned with market needs and trends. Participants also received guidance on basic financial management to help them manage their businesses more effectively in terms of capital and revenue.
Furthermore, participants were encouraged to utilize digital tools, including image editing software and social media platforms, as part of their promotional strategies.
The Head of RW 001 Sukamulia, Ms. Asri Dewi, who attended the event alongside local residents, expressed her appreciation to the UNDIRA PkM team for dedicating their time to share practical insights and strategies for strengthening local MSMEs.
With the successful implementation of this program, it is hoped that more innovative and independent MSME entrepreneurs will emerge, ultimately contributing to improved community welfare in Sukamulia, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
