Beginning a New Chapter Filled with Hope: Christ’s Resurrection Renews Our Humanity
As we approach the celebration of Easter on Sunday, April 5, 2026, we are reminded that this holy day is not merely a historical commemoration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, but also a profound symbol of personal renewal, guiding us toward a better and more meaningful life.
Referring to the theme proclaimed by the Communion of Churches in Indonesia (PGI), “Christ’s Resurrection Renews Our Humanity,” this year’s Easter celebration emphasizes that the coming of Jesus Christ is not solely a source of blessing for Christians, but also a universal symbol of renewal within human life.
In reflecting upon 2 Corinthians 5:17, which states, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: the old has gone, the new has come,” we are reminded that behind human failure, stagnation, and sin, there exists an inherent goodness instilled by God within His creation. This goodness can emerge when we faithfully and joyfully embrace the path that has been set before us.
According to Christian tradition, Easter signifies victory over sin, death, and the failures of the past. In life, we often encounter disappointment and adversity—even from those closest to us. Yet, through the life of Jesus Christ, we are taught that suffering and hardship are integral to the human journey toward transformation and redemption.
As written in Colossians 1:15, God remains fully present with a noble purpose: to restore all of His creation without exception. Easter serves as a reminder that between heaven and earth, we are never alone—God is always present to guide our path.
Easter, celebrated annually, is not only a commemoration of Christ’s resurrection but also a foundational moment for humanity to renew its sense of compassion and humanity, following the example of Jesus Christ as the embodiment of new hope.
The resurrection represents transformation and stands as tangible evidence of God’s love for His creation—offering humanity the opportunity for renewal, and calling us to love, understand, and care for one another with sincere devotion.
Happy Easter. May we all move forward toward a renewed and better chapter of life.
