FTI UNDIRA Expands Global Network: Signs Strategic Partnership with Politeknik Ungku Omar Malaysia and Participates in IEEE Day 2025

JAKARTA, November 27, 2025 – IPOH, MALAYSIA – On October 8, 2025, Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA) continued to demonstrate its commitment to expanding international collaboration. This time, the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics (FTI) UNDIRA became a partner in establishing cooperation and empowering the academic community through the Career Connect Program with Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO), one of Malaysia's leading polytechnic institutions.

The officialization of this partnership was marked by the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) held at the Dewan Jubli Perak, Politeknik Ungku Omar, Ipoh, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

The signing coincided with two major milestones: the Career Connect @PUO 2025 Program and the launch of the PUO 2025 Counseling Month, involving over 1,000 participants consisting of students, graduates, and industry representatives. For FTI UNDIRA, this step is a strategic move to ensure that the curriculum and student competencies remain aligned with the fast-moving needs of the technology industry.

Through this collaboration and the Career Connect engagement, UNDIRA—as one of eight Private Higher Education Institutions—had the opportunity to stand alongside major names such as the International Cultural Communication Centre Malaysia and Barakah Systems Sdn. Bhd. This opens a golden opportunity for the FTI UNDIRA academic community not only to participate in international study development but also to expand networking in research and development.

The Director of Politeknik Ungku Omar, Dr. Salmi Che Meh, emphasized in her remarks that this collaboration is not merely ceremonial. She stated that this LoI serves as a foundation for various academic and professional activities, including:

  1. Knowledge & Research Exchange: Joint research collaborations between lecturers and students of both institutions.

  2. Human Resource Development: Training and development for teaching staff through several programs, including national Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) training.

  3. Global Opportunities for Students: Facilitating industrial training placements (internships) and potential cross-border employment opportunities for graduates.

"This collaboration proves our continuous commitment to strengthening ties with the industry and partner educational institutions to ensure that the graduates produced meet global market needs," said Dr. Salmi.

With this cooperation established, it is hoped that FTI UNDIRA students can utilize this international network access to increase competitiveness, broaden their insights into electromagnetic and wave technology, and be prepared to face the real challenges of the professional world.

UNDIRA's presence was not solely to establish cooperation with Politeknik Ungku Omar but also coincided with the Regional Knowledge Sharing Series 2: IEEE Day 2025 Lecture Series: Empowering Future Engineers. This program is part of a strategic collaboration between the Electrical Engineering Department of Politeknik Ungku Omar Malaysia, IEEE Young Professionals Malaysia, and Universitas Dian Nusantara, Indonesia. The initiative aims to strengthen regional academic relations through knowledge transfer in electrical engineering, specifically regarding Electromagnetic Field and Wave Applications.

During the event, two UNDIRA lecturers attended as guest speakers: Dr. Arie Pangerti Aji (Head of Electrical Engineering Study Program, UNDIRA) presenting: "Application of Electromagnetic Field and Waves in Modern Technology" and Mrs. Desi Ramayanti, S.Kom., M.T. (Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics, UNDIRA) presenting: "Best Practice Implementation of AI and Google Workspace in Education" — a topic serving as a crucial foundation in today's engineering and informatics innovation.

Through this forum, FTI UNDIRA was also given the opportunity to introduce the profiles of each study program to the participants. The presentation covered concentrations in the Informatics Engineering Study Program, lecturer profiles and certifications, industrial cooperation networks, student activities, lecturer and student publications, career and alumni prospects, flagship programs, facilities and laboratories, as well as data management and student final projects with the potential to generate patents (IPR) or scientific publications.

These explanations were delivered by Mrs. Anita Ratnasari, M.Kom. (Head of Informatics Engineering); Mrs. Bias Yulisageni, M.Kom. (Secretary of Informatics Engineering); Mr. Boy Yuliadi, ST., M.Kom. (Head of Network Laboratory); Mrs. Dea Andini, S.Kom., M.M.S.I. (Lecturer in Informatics Engineering); Mrs. Marysca Shintya Dewi, ST., MT. (Secretary of Mechanical Engineering); and Mrs. Ervina Yuliyanti, ST., MT. (Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering).

UNDIRA's involvement in this series of activities aligns with the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics' vision: "To become a leading faculty in education, research, and community service in the field of technology and engineering based on innovation, sustainability, and the development of superior human resources who are nationally competitive and globally minded, as well as contributing significantly to industrial progress and entrepreneurship by 2030."
