Supporting Student Career Development: UNDIRA Launches Career Portal and Career Planning Workshop
Jakarta, October 10, 2024 – In its effort to support student career development, the Career Development and Alumni Bureau of Universitas Dian Nusantara (UNDIRA) officially launched the Career Portal platform. The launch event also featured a workshop providing tips and tricks for crafting CVs and portfolios, in collaboration with Kinobi Career Management. The event was held both online and offline.
The event was opened by Ms. Putri Ayienda Dinanti, M. Hum., who emphasized in her speech that the launch of the UNDIRA Career Portal is a strategic step to support students' career development. This platform functions similarly to JobStreet, LinkedIn, and Glints but is equipped with special features that allow for student data storage.
Key features of the Career Portal include a CV Builder and Information Board designed to facilitate internship and job searches. Additionally, there is a feature that enables direct communication between students, industry partners, and mentors digitally. Another prominent feature is the Tracer Study Platform, which tracks and monitors graduates' progress post-graduation. The data from the tracer study will assist the university in providing work references tailored to students' needs via the Career Portal.
With this platform, it is hoped that students can utilize all available features optimally. The UNDIRA Career Portal is expected to provide significant benefits to students as they face an increasingly competitive job market.
The event continued with remarks from Mr. Sagoro Dharmawan, Chairman of the Dian Asra Foundation, who highlighted the importance of strategy in navigating the ever-tightening job market competition. Collaboration with Kinobi Career Management through the launch of the Career Portal strengthens the university’s commitment to enhancing graduate quality. Additionally, data from the tracer study will serve as valuable reference material for the platform’s further development.
Prof. H. Suharyadi, Rector of Universitas Dian Nusantara, stated that the launch of this Career Portal aligns with the celebration of UNDIRA's 5th Dies Natalis, which will coincide with the 2nd Graduation Ceremony at ICE BSD, Tangerang. This alignment is expected to further encourage UNDIRA to continue advancing in preparing students to compete in the job market.
After the remarks, the event proceeded with a presentation by Ms. Dinda Angkotasan, Customer Success Associate at Kinobi. During the session, she explained various strategies for optimizing CVs, Cover Letters, and Portfolios. It was noted that during recruitment, recruiters typically spend only 5-8 seconds reviewing a CV, so less essential information, such as full identification numbers, overly lengthy profile descriptions, and social media accounts, should be shortened or omitted.
Additionally, it is important to pay attention to the Application Tracking System (ATS) used by companies to filter CVs based on keywords. Therefore, using relevant keywords in your CV is highly recommended to increase the chances of passing the selection process. When writing a CV with the help of AI, it is also important to review the content, as not all AI-generated writing aligns with existing rules or may include less formal vocabulary.
In addition to CVs, portfolios also play a crucial role, especially in practical fields like graphic design or web design, as they can showcase the applicant’s competencies more concretely. Moreover, Cover Letters serve as a more personal introduction, explaining the reason for applying and highlighting relevant qualifications.
Through the launch of the Career Portal and this workshop, it is hoped that UNDIRA students gain valuable information and skills to enhance their chances in the recruitment process, as well as the ability to craft high-quality CVs, Cover Letters, and Portfolios.
